Robert Half is currently supporting our client with their search for their next Senior Accounts Payable Specialist. This is a newly created role due to growth. Our client is a well established firm in the investment industry, known for its commitment to excellence and innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join them. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in managing accounts payable processes across multiple entities and possess extensive experience in handling various types of expenses.

As a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of accounts payable transactions for our diverse portfolio of entities. Your primary focus will be on managing expenses, overseeing vendor relations, and maintaining financial accuracy within the accounts payable function. You will be responsible for handling complex financial transactions and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular account reconciliations and generate accurate financial reports related to accounts payable, providing insights to the finance team and management.
• Maintain positive relationships with vendors, responding to inquiries and resolving any payment-related issues promptly and professionally.
• Review and verify all expenses submitted by employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and identifying discrepancies or potential fraudulent activities.
• Utilize Simply Accounting and SAP Concur to manage financial transactions, expense reports, and analyze data.
• Demonstrate proficiency in handling accounts payable operations for various entities, coordinating transactions seamlessly while adhering to the specific requirements of each entity.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Procurement, and other departments to facilitate smooth operations and address interdepartmental concerns.
• Provide guidance and support to junior accounts payable team members, fostering their professional growth and knowledge enhancement.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, relevant tax regulations, and other accounting standards.
• Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the accounts payable process, proposing and implementing improvements to streamline operations.
• Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment approvals, and payment disbursement for multiple entities.

Requirements

Your key qualifications:

• In-depth knowledge of accounts payable principles, processes, and best practices.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
• Experience with process improvements and systems implementation is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with vendors and colleagues.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Proven work experience as an Accounts Payable Specialist or similar role with multi-entity exposure.
• Proficiency in Simply Accounting and SAP Concur is an asset.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in accounts payable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an acute attention to detail.
• Solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.

Working Conditions

This is an on-site position requiring the candidate to work 5 days per week at their office located near Union Station in the heart of downtown Toronto. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and should be able to adapt to evolving business needs.
