We're currently looking for positive and passionate people with experience in working with individuals with multiple exceptionalities in the Burlington area.

JOB SUMMARY
As part of a dynamic team committed to providing quality support, you will assist people we support in the development of individual life skills which enhance personal growth, communication skills, recreation and leisure abilities, skills of daily living, household and domestic skills, personal and family values, family and personal relationships. Ensure that the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of the people we support are met and maintained.
TIME COMMITMENT
Part time - 16-20 hour per week (this includes 2 weekend shifts every 2 weeks)
LOCATION
Georgetown, Ontario
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be aware of the unique needs and interest of each person we support especially as it pertains to identifying and addressing their recreational cultural and spiritual strengths and needs
- Attend and participate actively in supervisory and team meetings
- Maintain complete and confidential information on each person we support
- Establish a respectful relationship with the people we support which provides for an enriching and dignified experience and opportunities
- Maintain and promote a positive image and awareness of the association in the community activities and events
- Promote the people we support to develop decision-making skills, exercise choices and assume reasonable risks.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Provide ongoing documentation and information relating to the support of the people we support as required in an accurate and concise manner
- Facilitate the people we support with their health needs including personal hygiene assistance with meals, physiotherapy, physical activity nutrition monitoring, treatments and medication and ensure appropriate and accurate documentation of such intervention and support
- Assist the people we support to develop personal competencies and valued social roles through the mutual established of individual support plans. Implement and document behavioural support plans
- Facilitate and assist the people we support to keep their finances in order
- Be responsible to facilitate and assist the people we support to keep their personal belongings in order
- Maintain supportive and collaborative relationships with the families advocates and friends of the people we support
- Dispense and record the dispensing and administrating of medication to the people we support according to the policies and procedures as required. Ensure that all medications are properly and securely stored
- Facilitate and support the development of social networks for the people we support
- Work with other agency staff, and other agencies in a positive professional and effective manner
QUALIFICATIONS
- A valid driver’s license
- University Degree or College Diploma in the Human Services/Science Field such as Behavioral Science, Developmental Service, Social Worker
- Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, possess initiative, Excellent written and verbal communication Skills
- Ability to set priorities, coordinate activities, respond appropriately to difficult situations, follow through with direction
- Understand respect and always take into account the needs and wishes of the people we support and their families
