Structural steel designer / detailer

As a steel designer / detailer you will be working together with a Professional Engineer and other detailers to help create and develop structural steel models based on the contract documents; create erection drawings and edit fabrication (shop) drawings as required. Help coordinate projects and / or check drawings prepared by others detailers.

Your responsibilities will include the following:

·Design and detail steel structures according to customer requirements and standard practices based on contract documents;

·Create Erection drawings to be used by the Erector to assemble the steel;

·Assist in shop drawing editing, verification as needed by project schedule;

·Interpret and incorporate Approval Comments, Contract Changes and other

revisions into the scope of the project;

·Assists in preparation and submittal of all necessary documents to the

appropriate department in support of the project.

·Collect information from all available sources in order to prepare accurate and complete drawings;

·Verify dimension correctness and/or identify any interference between elements;

·Recognize changes that will require additional cost and alert the project manager;

·Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Ability to use computer-assisted drafting software including but not limited to: Tekla Structures, AutoCAD;
• Diploma from a technical university or related experience and training.
• Exceptional communication and time management skills;
• Strong organizational skill and attention to detail;
• Ability to meet deadlines and work well alone and in a team environment.
• Ability to understand, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations, architectural blueprints, architectural and structural drawings and specifications;
• Steel design, drafting, fabrication or installation experience will be highly regarded but not necessary;

Full time position.

Salary will be based on experience and performance.
