The Senior Accountant is responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. High-level analytical skills are a must. In addition to the solid compensation and benefits, this full-time position offers the possibility of growth. Located in Brockville, Ontario, this Senior Accountant role is with a company in the Energy/Natural Resources field.
What you get to do every day

• Present Balance Sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting
• Delegate resources to Ad-hoc projects as necessary
• Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions
• Prepare financial analysis on trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc.
• Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP
• General costing
• Participate in various department-wide initiatives
• Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
• Work with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests

Requirements

• Exceptional time management skills preferred
• Sound written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
• Knowledge of Ad Hoc Financial Analysis
• Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
• Monthly Statements experience
• Strong familiarity with budget forecasting
• BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
• Knowledgeable of ERP systems
• Proven knowledge of month end closings
• Familiarity with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
• Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
• Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges.
• Foundational knowledge in budgeting
• 5+ years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
• SOX internal control assessments (Section 404) experience
• Solid understanding of account reconciliation
