Job Description
Description
Our client located in Ajax Toronto; is looking for a Senior Accountant for 12 month's contract opportunity. Working on a Hybrid model (2 days in office), and reporting to Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting, he/she will be responsible for the below:
Responsibilities
  • Completion of general ledger & sub ledger account reconciliations with prompt follow up and resolution of outstanding reconciling items.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the accounting treatment of all accounting transactions is in accordance with IFRS and the Accounting Handbook, including items such as: fixed asset, lease, revenue recognition, etc.
  • Work with controlling to assess impairment of fixed assets based on group guidelines.
  • Monitor and record all asset transfers and disposals ensuring transactions are completed in accordance with the approved guidelines.
  • Oversees and supports lease accounting processes, reviews new lease contracts and any changes recorded in Global Lease Centre (GLC) by Lease Accountant.
  • Maintain depreciation schedules and required monthly entries and system calculations.
  • Acts as a liaison on Accounting topics with the Controlling Teams to ensure cooperation and integration between Accounting Services and Controlling Teams are always aligned. Develops relationships with key stakeholders to ensure efficiencies, synergies and knowledge sharing amount the teams.
  • Supports Controlling Teams, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and the SAP Key User on new and existing accounting processes as well as testing system changes and implementations
  • Support systems implementations and required testing requirements, becoming expert user of Fixed Asset Module (SAP)
  • Provide backup support to Lease Accountant as required.
  • Manage and prepare revenue recognition journal entries to ensure the result are presented timely and accurately in the financial statement in compliance with IFRS.
  • Responsible for planning and managing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements and processes including financial analysis, validation and submission of financial statements and reports, as well as additional notes & disclosures for financial reporting.
  • Support in external and internal audit requirements in preparation of schedules and selected samples and ensure completion within deadlines, as well as compliance audits to relevant governmental agencies.
  • Maintains General Ledger and mapping table configurations and ensures integrity, accuracy and completeness of Financial Statements and Disclosures.
  • Prepares financial information, reports and disclosures provided to Tax Department, facilitates processes required for tax provision bookings.
  • Plan and schedule fixed asset physical inventory. Reconcile count results with system records and resolve any discrepancies on a timely manner
  • Collaborates with controlling function to understand business needs and the overall activity in the financial statements, ensure business objectives are compliant with IFRS, and assist with Controlling’s reporting requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual local financial statements including required disclosure notes in accordance with IFRS
  • Track and record asset acquisitions in a timely manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.
