Position Details:


The Junior/Senior LAC program is a District Special Education program for students in Grade 8 - 12 with mild intellectual impairments who require modified academics and support in all aspects of their learning. There is an enrolling and non-enrolling teacher with two full-time SSAs assigned to help support the students in their program classes and electives. As the program teacher, you will deliver several subject areas to Junior and Senior students and improve students' social and academic performance.


  • 7 blocks of Learning Assistance Centre and Resource Teacher


Qualifications:
  • Completion of a Bachelor of Education
  • Developing, implementing and evaluation Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and positive behaviour support plans
  • Case management (Resource Teacher) for the senior students in the LAC program
  • Prior teaching experience is an asset.
  • Assist with a variety of assessments including curriculum based, informal and formal assessment
  • Registration with the Teacher Qualification Service
  • Assist with direct instruction to students using a variety of teaching and management strategies
  • Membership in or eligible to become a member in the Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Completion of one of the following:
  • Diploma in Special Education
  • 1 year Full-Time contract as a Special Education Teacher
  • Masters in Special Education
  • Coordinating with SSA's to support students in the program and various elective courses
