Software Engineer - Frontend

As a member and is part of our Software Engineering Group, you will be responsible for analysis, design and improving front end builds in a high-performing, experienced team. You'll be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all many areas including requirements, infrastructure, and DevOps. We embrace a culture challenging the status quo and constantly look to simplify processes, technology, and workflow in a balanced manner.
This position reports to the Sr Manager - Software Engineering Operations.
You are collaborative with outstanding interpersonal skills, forward-thinking and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

• Experience with DevOps Tools is an asset
• Use modern software development methodologies and tools like Jira to manage and deliver projects proficiently
• Build highly modular, compose-able units of code in all areas of front-end using TypeScript
• Continuously optimize and improve front-end builds using Node.JS, Webpack, NPM, and other tools
• In a positive manner, promote, implement, and evolve development best practices
• Contribute to core UI libraries that make up the foundation of front-end and used across Aviva efficiently

What You’ll Bring

• Familiar with the Agile software development
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Worked on API and Microservices based architecture/services efficiently
• Insurance knowledge an asset
• Must be proficient and resourceful with practical experience in Angular, TypeScript, CSS, and HTML
• University degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science is must
• Outstanding dedication for developing products and working collaboratively in teams
• Outstanding teammate
• You have a balanced focus on user-oriented development and end-user satisfaction
• Resourceful and creative with excellent problem solving skills
• 5+ years in a Frontend development role
