We're seeking full-time support from curious thinkers looking to co-author the next chapters of our story. Our intent is to set up a successful site long-term in Canada to support Robinhood's U.S. operations. While we are exploring this possibility, join our third party employer of record and help shape our vision, structures and systems. You will play a key-role as we launch into our ambitious future.

About the role/team:

Robinhood's Developer Infrastructure organization's goal is to increase the efficiency, velocity, reliability, and scalability of Robinhood Engineering!

We help software developers write code. We speed up getting code out of a software developer's head and into customers' hands safely. We drive consistency across platforms and toolchains. We enable product software developers to focus completely on what code to write rather than how to write that code. We find, fix, and prevent issues during the development cycle rather than in production.

We see software development and engineering as a whole and drive systemic improvements to our development process and culture. We sweep up and janitor anything which is generally painful. We are the last line of defense if something is wrong in engineering.

Canadian-based software development managers will be employed by a local employer of record providing competitive pay and benefits, and engaged to support Robinhood's U.S. operations, which build and own backend services and infrastructure that power our core U.S. financial products. Developers and managers supporting RH's operations gain a unique look into how the U.S. financial systems work on the inside and strengthen their financial-domain knowledge. We strive for a high standard of engineering quality while solving unique scalability challenges. These Software Development Managers support high-priority initiatives.

We are only interested in candidates available for full-time roles.

What we expect you'll do day-to-day:

• Provide mentorship to junior developers in the team.
• Design large scale systems, making the right tradeoffs for risk and long-term maintainability.
• Proactively identify and support optimizations and improvements to software development and engineering productivity and experience.
• Lead organization-wide collaboration for the team.

About you:

• Experience with Monorepos and modern build systems (ie Bazel, Buck, Pants).
• Experience leading a medium to large size team of developers.
• Passion for mentoring junior developers and improving engineering craftsmanship.
• A focus on software development and engineering craftsmanship; testing, static analysis, continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.
• Eagerness to learn and use new technologies and share with the team.
• Understanding of what metrics to drive to increase engineering velocity and quality.
• You've managed an engineering productivity or developer experience team previously.
