We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Social Worker in the Odette Cancer Centre – Patient and Family Support Program at our Bayview campus.

Hours Of Work

Weekdays: Days, 8hrs, Flexibility required.

Summary Of Duties

Provision of Social Work services to clients and families in Odette’s Patient & Family Support Program caring for patients with breast cancer and head/neck cancer at an advanced level of practice within an interprofessional model. This includes: completion of psychosocial assessments; leading or participating in Advance Care Planning and/or Goals of Care conversations; provision of counselling and emotional support; conducting group work; locating and arranging resources; consultation/collaboration; teaching; participating in research; administration and professional development.

Qualifications/Skills

• Proven commitment to person and family-centred care essential.
• Demonstrated strong commitment to academic practice required.
• Proven excellent assessment, counselling and problem solving skills essential.
• Minimum 5 years’ previous experience working in a health care setting preferred.
• Must be a current member in good standing with the OCSWSSW.
• Student education required
• Masters Degree in Social Work required.
• Demonstrated Psychosocial Oncology knowledge preferred.
• Superior time management, organization, and prioritization skills in addressing multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment required.
• Psychosocial provision of care to those with breast, head and neck cancer preferred.
• Superior communication, negotiation, mediation and collaborative interprofessional team skills required.
• Well-established knowledge of relevant health care system processes and community resources required.
