Senior/Lead Mechanical Layout Designer - Burlington / Toronto

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior/Lead Mechanical Layout Designer to support our projects in GTA. We are looking for someone with passion and drive, who is highly organized and can ensure that our high standard of quality is maintained. With varied engineering, procurement and construction options, your skilled guidance in influencing project plan execution is crucial to the delivery of sustainable and successful outcomes for our clients.

About The Role

Responsibilities of the Senior/Lead Mechanical Layout Designer will include but are not limited to the following:

• Support proposal managers in providing input into the proposal and estimates.
• Facilitate and ensure interdisciplinary co-ordination when developing layouts or models.
• Prepare mechanical layouts: study level and detail drawings in line with project requirements.
• Produce layout relevant deliverables such as design criteria, design drawings and reports.
• Manage a team of layout designers against project schedule and budgeted hours.
• Maintain consistent design drafting standards across projects by communicating expectations and holding project members to account for standards.
• Comply with all of Ausenco corporate policies and procedures by adopting Ausenco Quality Assurance and Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies, procedures and requirements.
• Deliver design drawings according to project-specific design criteria as well as the defined regulations, codes, and standards.
• Development of mechanical layouts in 2D layouts (Autocad). 3D layout an asset.
• Control and monitor layout budget hours and manpower loading and provide forecast.

About You

• Mechanical Engineering Technician diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in layout design for studies and projects.
• Use of ProjectWise is an asset.
• Experience in Industrial projects is also an asset.
• Excellent communication skills, be detailed-oriented, a self-starter, organized, be able to work independently to produce drawings within a strict deadline schedule.
• Gold and Copper commodities experience.
• 15 year’s relevant experience in Mechanical Layout and design drafting of Mineral Processing Plants within a large project, multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM environment.
• Experience in brownfield, greenfield & international projects.
• Well-developed written and oral skills
• Ability to design AutoCAD, Prostructures 2d and 3d. Smartplant an asset.
• Able to use vendor data, drawings and information to develop and verify the model.
• Able to work well, either as lead, part of a team or independently.
• Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes relating to the design and systems for projects.
• Willingness to travel between downtown Toronto & Burlington locations.
