Mechanical Piping Designer - Burlington

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical / Piping Designer. The role is based in our Burlington, location. However, we are currently working within a Hybrid model with flexibility to work remotely.

We are looking for a talented individual with passion, drive, and motivation to support delivery of high technical standards and quality to our clients as part of a growing consulting team environment.

About The Role

• Field experience safely obtaining existing site information with respect to pipe routing, arrangements, supports, and sizes to develop background drawings with limited assistance.
• Progressive experience with detailed industrial and chemical piping system layouts, both 2D & 3D.
• Knowledge of material specifications and standards.
• Comprehensive understanding and proficiency with 2D & 3D CAD tools and applications such as:
• Experience in the preparation of mechanical equipment layouts and general arrangement plans and sections.
• Preparation of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
• AutoCAD, AutoPlant, Navisworks, SmartPlant
• Understanding of pipe support design requirements and movements.
• Knowledge of engineering work flow process and industry standards.
• Ability to work closely with senior engineers and senior designers on completion of deliverables with challenging schedules.
• Preparation of piping isometrics, line lists, and material take-offs.

About You

• 7 – 10 years of piping design experience within a consulting engineering firm working on industrial and/or chemical plant projects.
• Ability to pay attention to detail.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to communicate technically, clearly, and effectively: written, spoken, and interpersonal.
• Good organization and time management skills.
• Field work experience is a strong asset.
• Diploma, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology (Process Piping Major) or a Process Piping Drafting Certificate combined with relevant job experience.
• Sound understanding of Engineering design principles, codes and regulations.
