Senior Sustainability Strategy Manager

A fantastic opportunity to join my blue-chip Client has arisen for an experienced Senior Sustainability Strategy Manager for a permanent position with flexible hybrid working. Based in London, the Senior Sustainability Strategy Manager will oversee a programme of work to ensure that my client’s sustainable strategy is regularly reviewed, updated and translated into actionable annual plans and targets with clear accountabilities defined across each function. The Senior Sustainability Strategy Manager will also programme manage my client’s suite of sustainability and ESG reporting, assurance and disclosure and own the sustainability data strategy. This will include producing exemplary external sustainability reporting via the annual sustainability report and the Annual Report and Accounts for my Client, dynamic internal reporting to my Client’s Executive Committee and Board, and disclosure via a range of ESG ratings and benchmarks.

The role of Senior Sustainability Strategy Manager will involve, but not be limited to:

• Manage a cross-functional programme of engagement to ensure that my client’s longer term sustainability strategy is translated into a programme of roadmaps, annual targets and activity, with ownership clearly defined across its functions.
• Lead a programme of internal sustainability reporting to my client’s Exec Committee, Board and other senior-level sub-committees and governance groups and act as Secretary for the sustainability focused Executive Sub-Committee.
• Line Manager for an ESG Analyst.
• Programme manage my client’s suite of external company sustainability reporting and ESG disclosure to all investors, including production of the standalone sustainability report, providing sustainability information for inclusion within financial reporting and disclosure of information to ESG ratings and benchmarks.
• Interface with my client’s Programme Management Office and Corporate Strategy teams, ensuring its sustainability strategy, targets, benefits and reporting are aligned.
• Define and lead my client’s approach to internal and external assurance and verification of sustainability information.
• Clearly articulate the interpretation of my client’s sustainability strategy for use across the business with external stakeholders, ensuring there is clarity on where collaboration would be beneficial.
• Own the end-to-end sustainability data strategy, to encompass all relevant sustainability data across the business, and be accountable for ensuring that key information is collected and reported in an efficient, robust and transparent way.
• Regularly review, update and strengthen my client’s company-wide sustainability strategy, taking account of emerging external trends to ensure it maintains a leadership approach.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

The Senior Sustainability Strategy Manager will be expected to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

• Comfortable with corporate governance, with the ability to facilitate governance groups effectively and prepare high quality reports, papers and materials.
• Open to candidates who are legally entitled to work in the UK.
• Extensive experience of developing and delivering sustainability strategies in a business context.
• Experience of producing engaging sustainability reports, with up-to-date knowledge of the ESG disclosure landscape.
• Graduate and/or post graduate qualification or equivalent
• Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organisational skills.
• High level of data literacy and experienced in managing sustainability data within a large and complex organisation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication, presentation and influencing skills and able to deliver activities by working with colleagues across my client’s business and its partners.
• Strong understanding of my client’s strategic agenda and the sustainability issues facing its sector.
