Job Description
Clio is more than just a tech company–we are a global leader that is transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.

Summary:

We are currently seeking a new Senior Global Social Purpose Manager to join our Social Purpose team in Canada. This role is also available to candidates across Canada, excluding Quebec (if applicable).

The Team

Our Social Purpose function is a crucial component in actualizing Clio’s mission to transform the legal experience for all. We partner across the global organization to accelerate positive social impact through culture, strategy, policies, processes, and programs. We are advocates, change agents, diplomats and responsible stewards governing a) internal investments to improve diversity, inclusion, belonging, equity and accessibility in both our digital and physical workplaces as well as our product and customer experience and b) external giving of our profit, product, and people time across three primary social pillars: Access to Justice, Mental Wellbeing of Lawyers, and Diverse Talent in Technology. We believe in compassionate yet consequential accountability to engage in meaningful, not performative, action - increasing transparency across metrics and moments that matter. We are trusted, credible and collaborative partners, strategically partnering to build organizational accountability, commitment, capability and capacity at Clio, in turn delivering regenerative and sustainable value for our stakeholders.

Who You Are

You understand, appreciate, and balance the dynamic tensions that exist in the context of a fast-growing global company, evolving industry, VUCA social and macroeconomic environments, and competing stakeholder needs. You are both passionate and pragmatic; celebrating progress without getting stuck and frustrated seeking perfection. You demonstrate emotional intelligence, a growth-mindset, cultural competency and humility as you confidently influence without direct authority as an individual contributor getting work done through others. You effectively manage your energy and time across a diverse range of stakeholders, situationally coaching, educating, mentoring, and advocating across all levels of the organization. You are experienced in managing the strategic development and deployment of social impact, CSR, or ESG programming in a mature organization; you’ve ‘been there done that’ and ready to apply your experience and invest your energy building out this portfolio in a fast-growing ambitious company that will undoubtedly transform how justice is delivered on a global scale.

What You’ll Work On
  • Design, implement, sustain and evolve systems that increase team capacity (i.e. automated workflows between GSuite and Asana, processing of donations, tracking and reporting of KPIs related to participation, volunteering, conference sponsorship attendance coordination)
  • Stay on the forefront of the evolving ESG (environment social governance) and IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility) disclosure standards, frameworks and practices as well as discern between ‘trendy’ vs impactful practices, leveraging trusted case studies from respected peers
  • Co-develop Talent System interventions to increase representation of diverse talent (such as inclusive and accessible hiring, accommodations, equitable pay and promotion practices, inclusive leader coaching to improve equitable engagement and retention).
  • Co-develop and oversee Clio’s 1%/1%/1% giving playbook and programming, including strategic partnerships, giving, scholarships, etc.
  • Co-develop Clio’s Stakeholder Communication, Engagement, Education, and Activation Strategy, across a range of DIBE topics including Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation, Active Anti-Racism, 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, Accessibility, etc
  • Support the VP Social Purpose to enable portfolio governance (including priority setting, scorecard reporting, and chairing internal working groups), scope and lead implementation of the Social Purpose roadmap, including vendor and internal resource management and output quality. Current roadmap priorities include:
  • Measure Clio’s progress against external benchmarks, support external disclosure requirements, and leverage a range of data sources to inform Clio’s investment priorities
  • Coach and advise the Extended Leadership team, DIBE Council and ERG leads, role modeling inclusive leadership capabilities as you influence culture, policy, process and programming to drive measurable impact building trust and credibility
  • Co-develop Annual Social Impact report to stakeholders
  • Support ERG Leads through the implementation and evolution of Clio’s ERG playbook
  • Partner cross-functionally, with SME’s and departments to scope and integrate Clio’s ESG and Social Purpose Strategy into our business operations, products, and services as we scale

What You May Have

  • Demonstrated ability to form, develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across all levels, including executives
  • Degree in diversity studies, corporate social responsibility, psychology, sociology, business administration, and/or organizational behavior; over 5 years experience in leading diversity, inclusion & equity programming and initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education, training and development.
  • Over 10 years of experience contributing to organization-wide programming in a global for-profit corporation with over 1000 employees
  • Demonstrated ability to lead with growth-mindset; an ability to be resilient, flexible and creative in approaching complex problems.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of audiences internally and externally to the organization.
  • Displays comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and methodologies and ability to coach team members on these skills.
  • Advanced skills in change management and consultation; serves as a change agent, influencing change in a fast growing company within the tech industry.
  • Outstanding listening, collaboration and team building skills that facilitate coordination and cooperation with the demonstrated ability to lead with both courage and humility.
