Senior Embedded Software Engineer - Sdv

The Role:
This is a Hybrid position within our Engineering organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but may also require onsite work based on business needs. Relocation will be provided as needed.
The Software Defined Vehicle team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! This space is ripe with technical leadership opportunities for sophisticated technology development, as well as the ability to provide mentorship for new employees. You can flex your collaboration muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering, IT, and the business.
Our Ultifi Services team works in the Linux ecosystem, building in-vehicle services to implement a scalable Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platform and functional vehicle services. Linux / Android / Cloud / AI / ML based system level services development for features like IPC communication, vehicle to Cloud communications, video processing, security implementation, diagnostics, debugging and logging, all within the Electronic Control Systems (ECU) of vehicle like Infotainment ECU. The Ultifi Services team designs and develops the all the vehicle intelligence within the vehicle across all vehicle functions. These services will also utilize the 5G / MEC infrastructure and AI/ML on the Cloud. We build high quality Ultifi services software which is foundational to move General Motors towards an industry first intelligent and responsive Software Defined Vehicle.
What You'll Do

• Multi-functional collaboration with other development teams and/or support functions
• Be a player coach, and perform development, end to end testing activities as needed
• Work with CAN Messages, vSPY, Canoe, and be able to work on a vehicle, and/or benches
• Interact and implement functional interfaces for mechatronic functions
• Work as part of a team to design and develop In-Vehicle Ultifi Platform components
• Develop and support Android/Linux based in-vehicle mechatronic abstractions development
• Provide technical guidance to team members
• Resolve sophisticated software engineering problems in Embedded, Cloud and/or AI/ML areas
• Design and develop services that connect to v5G / MEC Edge compute, and Cloud

Additional
Your Skills & Abilities

• BS, or MS in EE/CE/CS, or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability
• Demonstrated knowledge of data modeling and data structure principles, and AI/ML
• Demonstrated knowledge in software programming languages (Python, Java, C, C++)
• Experience in object-oriented software development, algorithms, and data structures, design patterns
• Prior experience with AWS, Azure or GCP Cloud based services, AI/ML tools is preferred
• 10+ years of professional software design and development experience, combination of Embedded and Cloud Native technologies preferred
• Experience working with large code bases, developing entirely new code and maintaining existing code, within a CI/CD environment, over multiple model years
• Creative, well-adapted sense of responsibility
• Demonstrated high level of analytical ability to resolve sophisticated problems
• Experience providing technical guidance to team members
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively with team members locally and remotely, and with customers under pressure
