Embedded Staff Software Engineer - Hybrid Role

ATX is looking for talented and resilient Staff Software Engineers to add to our fast-growing team!

As we are on track to double within the next 2 years, this person needs to be able to accommodate change quickly and have a growth mindset!

Reporting directly to the Director Software Engineering, the Staff Software Engineer independently performs complex engineering assignments following company and/or industry standards and methods. This position works closely with other engineering disciplines. Tasks require application of engineering principals and techniques.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job duties outline the position requirements and are subject to change from time to time as business conditions dictate at the discretion of the Manager:

• Improve processes by recommending change.
• Propose and develop new creative software solutions for our clients by studying current product issues and customer needs.
• Stay up to date in development practices, state-of-the-art tools, and programming techniques.
• Work collaboratively with other engineers to achieve company goals and mission.
• Document solutions following company standards.
• Support the customer base by providing solutions to problems found in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proven experience with Modern C++ framework.
• Experienced with end-to-end development including system architecture.
• 5+ year’s experience working in a production environment for a medium sized organization.
• Excellent communication skills especially on complex technical subjects.
• Experience with Linux on larger embedded systems (1GHz+, 250MB+), including Open embedded/Yocto Project.
• Strong aptitude for solving problems and developing new solutions.
• Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
• Excellent analytical and empirical problem-solving abilities.
• Quick, flexible, dynamic and open to change attitude.
• Bachelor’s Degree and/or Diploma in an Engineering, Computer Science, or Computing field. (Master's Degree in Computer Science/ Engineering preferred)

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with digital video: MPEG Transport Stream, DVB, ATSC.
• Experience with IP Networking, including VLANs, UDP and Multicast.

SUPERVISION:

This position does not directly supervise staff but may act as a technical lead on projects and provide mentorship or instruction.
