Job Description
The IT Sr. Business Analyst will work as a liaison among stakeholders to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization, and recommend solutions that enable the company to efficiently achieve its goals through specific analysis tasks and techniques. This involves understanding Business/IT processes and enabling changes/additions to these processes in relation to software and technological opportunities. This role may be required to design and document Process flows, manage, and provide solutions to the operational business units and support groups for new business ideas, trends and concepts via new designed processes or technological paths.


Reporting to the Application Delivery Manager, this candidate collaborates with other teams within IT to contribute to good internal partnership of the overall department and development of solid solutions and well-rounded analyses.


What You’ll Do


Business Analysis Planning & Monitoring


  • Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements and technical documents to ensure the requirements were interpreted correctly
  • Work collaboratively with business and IT resources to design test scenarios
  • Ensure traceability of requirements through development, quality assurance and testing; focus on meeting or exceeding business expectations and delivering system resiliency
  • Meet with the Business Process Owners, Business Process Leads, Subject Matter Experts to gather detailed requirements , both functional & non-functional, with testable outcomes
  • Identify any assumptions, risks, impacts or constraints within the requirements
  • Enable the business to realize benefits, avoid costs, identify new opportunities, understand required capabilities, and model the organization
  • Lead the analysis of system upgrades, patches and functional enhancements considering global organizational impacts
  • Lead stakeholder interviews, focus groups, brainstorming sessions, document analysis and other workshops to gather and record requirements (functional, nonfunctional & technical) for large projects and quarterly releases (including fixes and enhancements)
  • Package and present requirements to Product Owners, Solution Architects, Developers & Quality Assurance groups
  • Propose new configuration and processes to meet business needs
  • Prepare estimates of resource time requirements for solution delivery. Ensure uniform design, cross-module integration, industry best practices, mandate best-in-class processes and ensure compliance requirements are met
  • Support all phases of a project life cycle including analysis, design, configuration, testing, and deployment of solutions, post-production support/maintenance, documentation, and end-user training


Solution Assessment and Validation


  • Work with the PMO office and business owners to define evaluation criteria, review proposals and participate in vendor selection process
  • Work with the business and the PMO office to develop business cases, SOWs, Financial Risk Analysis, RFIs and RFPs. Develop corrective action plans
  • Assess capability gaps; identify relationships and dependencies between new initiatives/systems and existing ones
  • Review and evaluate solution to ensure expected benefits are being achieved and traceable to business requirements
  • Process Design - Lead process mapping sessions with Business and IT Subject Matter Experts
  • Conduct build vs. buy analysis and determine best solution approach


Delivery & Assurance


  • Support the development of reporting requirements and participate in information gathering sessions for BI and other reporting tools
  • Ensure requirements are being met or exceeded, minimize negative organizational or system impacts, manage scope creep and present any change requests
  • Lead upgrade/change planning by identifying gaps between the current deployment of applications and future requirements that have evolved due to organizational growth, changes, or strategy
  • Support the development of solid solutions by assisting Developers and Quality Assurance meet the business requirements with requirements traceability, testing cycles, including test plan development, unit, integrated, regression, and performance testing
  • Ensure smooth and sustainable transition from project mode to operational support by preparing complete and accurate documentation and practicing knowledge transfer to Business Subject Matter Experts and to other Support team members
  • Use a disciplined approach to support the Canadian Tire IT & Business Leaders in understanding system issues and process change requirements
  • Help define why changes, new software, or processes, are not working, helping with incident post mortem reviews, and help stakeholders identify the necessary steps to make the change successful


What You Bring


  • Conscientious, tenacious, self-starter, who is results-oriented and has a track record of timely high-quality deliverables.
  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Viso, JIRA, and other analytical delivery tools
  • Experience conducting large scale requirements and design sessions with product owners
  • Highly skilled in SQL database queries and familiarity with Supply Chain/Retail Operations processes
  • Able to manage and deliver to multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • SAFe 5, IIBA CBAP , PROSCI Change Management, and DEVOPS Foundations Certifications
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Reporting Delivery, Data Warehouse Development and ETL Processes
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, facilitation, conflict resolution and analytical skills
  • Degree (or equivalent training and experience) in Computer Science or Engineering
  • At least six years of experience involving progressively more challenging responsibilities in Business Analysis, change management, and IT system solution development at a senior level; logistics, supply chain and store operations focused
