Senior Advisor, Investment Stakeholder Engagement

On behalf of our client, Procom is currently seeking a Senior Advisor, Investment Stakeholder Engagement to be responsible for strategic communication and engagement initiatives related to investment transactions – spanning the bid, announcement and including the close.

This involves determining the positioning and developing their key messaging for each investment, as well as preparing speaking points for executive management, senior portfolio managers and other members of the senior leadership. The Senior Advisor conducts research to support the reputational risk assessments of potential acquisitions, as well as tracking and assisting with the management of issues that may impact their reputation.

The Senior Advisor participates in the preparation of case studies, reports and other collateral materials related to investments. This position requires solid investment expertise while having the ability to translate complex investment transactions and initiatives into a concise, compelling and engaging narrative that is aligned with the interests of stakeholders. The Senior Advisor operates within a team that has a mandate to strengthen and manage their corporate brand and reputation, as well as foster and maintain long-term partnerships with portfolio companies, investment partners and other stakeholders by defining and leading their investment stakeholder engagement strategies and reporting initiatives.

Engagement Responsibilities:

• Support the Senior Manager, Investment Stakeholder Engagement in managing issues by interacting with senior portfolio managers as well as monitoring and tracking systems to ensure that all relevant topics, asset classes and geographies are covered.
• Plan and produce transaction-related collateral that includes but not limited to: corporate videos; podcasts; materials for inclusion in corporate publications and digital platforms; speeches delivered by the executive or senior portfolio managers; and other reference materials.
• Conduct research and source information that can be incorporated into issues management messaging and practices.
• Develop and implement reputational management strategies, key messaging, and tactics for evolving issues, which includes but is not limited to: engagement plans; issue notes; backgrounders; briefing notes; and other documents to support issues management.
• Actively adheres to compliance and risk management policies and participates in business continuity plan, and emergency/crisis communication activities.
• Support advocacy and thought leadership efforts within investment stakeholder engagement program.
• Provide strategic communication counsel to senior executives and departments.
• Lead and/or support special projects aligned to investment stakeholder engagement program.
• Develop key messaging for investment transactions and ensure consistency across all products and stakeholders
• Develop key messaging and materials to support strategic communication counsel to C-suite, executive leadership, board of directors, asset classes, as well as portfolio companies.
• Conduct research and prepare reputational risk assessments in support of the due diligence related to potential investments.
• Ensure that all copy is aligned with approved corporate key messaging, is consistent across all products, supports investment stakeholder engagement program, and is aligned with corporate editorial standards.
• Prepare and maintain stakeholder maps, as well as recommending actions to anticipate the requirements of each stakeholder.
• Function as Senior Manager, Investment Stakeholder Engagement as and when required.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain databases that track and support activities relating to transactions and investment stakeholder engagement.
• Develop and implement integrated engagement/communication strategies and marketing plans working in partnership with their asset classes and legal department, investment partners, and portfolio companies.

Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge of CP style
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues, investment partners and other external parties
• Accreditations with the IABC or CPRS
• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to prioritize
• Superior organizational skills with appreciation for details
• Experience and working knowledge of investment communication, strategic engagement, and issues management principles
• Completion of the CFA Institute Investment Foundations® Program
• Post-secondary education, preferably in business, economics, marketing or communication, journalism and/or related experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of institutional investing and finance
• Five to eight years experience in investment communication with a demonstrated knowledge of investment concepts, transactions, and asset management
• Superior skills in strategic communication, communication strategy, digital communication, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven experience in multi-media communication
