Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you interested in working for a Member of Parliament? We are currently looking for a Constituency Assistant that has strong customer service, and communication skills and can provide high quality support. Could this be the perfect role for you?
About the role:
Reporting to the Member of Parliament, the Constituency Assistant will primarily be responsible for case work, responding to requests submitted by constituents related to immigration, Canada Revenue agency, Service Canada cases or any other government department.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
- Log and maintain casework and constituent communications using CRM software;
- Serve as the primary point of contact to constituents for all case work files and respond to their questions and requests in a timely and efficient manner;
- Keep abreast of relevant guidelines/legislation in the processing of files;
- Liaise with various federal government services on behalf of constituents to obtain more information as well as to seek and achieve resolution;
- Collaborate with and support the constituency office team in all other related tasks to optimize the work of the Member.
- Ensure follow up with constituents via email and over the phone throughout the client file life cycle to keep them informed;
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Ability to manage competing priorities, and adapt to new situations.
- Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in political science, business administration or a related field or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
- Exceptional judgment and interpersonal skills, and the ability to exercise diplomacy when interacting with the public and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
Assets:
- Knowledge of the political environment and/or experience working in a political office setting.
- Knowledge of the House of Commons, its culture and its mandate.

Additional Information:
Job Title: Constituency Assistant – Case work
Location: Constituency Office, Richmond, British Columbia
Hours of Work: Full time (37.5 hours), 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work and some travel may be required.
Salary: Salary is based on qualifications and work experience. Attractive benefits package.
