Job Description
Position Overview


:


As a member of the research team, the Research Assistant will work with the Principal Investigator and a Research Coordinator to support several ongoing health services research studies in the field of diabetes. Major responsibilities will include assisting with various aspects of project operations including preparation and submission of study documents and regulatory forms, organization and execution of project team meetings, literature reviews, and data management.


Specific Job Responsibilities


  • Organize project meetings: schedule project meetings, prepare agendas and materials for meetings, prepare and disseminate meeting minutes
  • Literature Review: Assist in conducting literature reviews to support the development of study protocols and research objectives.
  • Support for the Principal Investigator: Assist the principal investigator with administrative tasks, grant applications, and research proposal development.
  • Data management: organize and manage study-related documents such as protocols, consent forms, and regulatory documents; maintain confidentiality and secure storage of participant data and study documents
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the research team, investigators, and study participants; participate in research team meetings and discussions.
  • Regulatory compliance: ensure that the study is conducted in compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and ethical standards; assist in preparing and submitting regulatory documents to institutional review boards (IRBs) or ethics committees.
  • Data collection and entry: assist in collecting data from patients or participants, ensure data completeness, quality, and accuracy
  • Participant recruitment and consent: recruit eligible participants for studies, explain study’s purpose and procedures to potential participants, obtain informed consent from study participants


Education & Experience Requirements


  • Previous clinical research experience or healthcare experience is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required
  • Undergraduate degree in health or science related discipline
  • Proficiency with NVivo and REDCap is an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Office software required (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Certification in research ethics core principles and guidelines (e.g. TCPS-2)
  • Autonomous critical thinking ability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently in a dynamic environment
