Regional Director, Finance & Controller (Full Time) (Northern Health)

The Regional Director, Finance & Controller leads and directs the processing, accounting for and reporting of all financial transactions for Northern Health (NH). This position is responsible for leading all custodial and stewardship functions with regard to safeguarding NH assets, including ensuring proper internal controls are in place and approved financial policies are implemented and followed across NH and comply with legal and statutory requirements. This position leads the Financial Operations and Reporting Division comprising of General Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Asset Management, Financial Reporting and Treasury.

This position is responsible for leadership development within the Financial Operations and Reporting Division and establishes and implements goals and objectives for the operations of the Division and maintains accountability and performance management processes to ensure that the NH's broad financial mandate is achieved. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining accountability processes for NH, including overseeing the development of a framework for data and financial reporting which addresses variance, tolerance, and approaches to resolution of key problems.

This position works in partnership with NH staff, government and external agencies on matters relating to financial accountability and monitoring, policy development and implementation, service planning and demand. This position is responsible for all NH treasury, investment, and commodity tax functions and for ensuring that proper internal controls exist within NH to implement and administer Board and NH approved financial policies and to comply with all statutory requirements.

Starting salary will be approximately from $128,370 to $160,463 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions

Qualifications

• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferably combined with a Master's Degree in Business, Leadership or other relevant field,
• Ten (10 to Fifteen (15) years of relevant senior management experience within a large complex multi-site organization in a position with increasing leadership responsibility, including experience with project management, strategic planning, budgeting, leadership development and succession planning, systems design, and development, change management, organizational development and building community under adverse conditions.

• Superior presentation skills including the ability to comprehend complex issues and present information in concise meaningful ways.
• Superior communication skills including an ability to facilitate, negotiate and persuade others.
• Ability to direct staff with advanced technical systems skills.
• Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge into practice, an inquiring mind, and the ability to set and accomplish objectives within a large complex organization.
