Job Description

L & Company Ltd. is seeking a Controller (and successor to the CFO) to join our clients team on Vancouver Island. Relocation is provided for this position. This position will be responsible for the financial management of the company’s operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting and financial reporting in a First Nation's organization.


Requirements

  • CPA required.
  • Experience with ERP software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, while maintaining strong interpersonal skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to think critically and problem solve independently.
  • Audit Experience strongly preferred.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting functions for company including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, and general ledger accounts.
  • Financial Staff management.
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset report and quarterly general ledger reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with annual audit.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for all accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions using ERP software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Assist with annual budget and quarterly variances.
  • Maintain funding and grants.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecast for the following month’s close and any future months based on actual transactions for that month.
  • Prepare month end and year end close.
