This is a new role that will focus on maintaining continuity between our quality services and customers’ requirements, ongoing monitoring of all testing functions, and overall quality of products. In addition to overseeing and managing the Quality Control team of Maritime Paper Products Limited Partnership (MPPLP), the Quality Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring systems that effectively manage product quality and food safety with a focus on continuous improvement. As well, the successful applicant will ensure products and the manufacturing process meet food quality and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to):
- Accomplishes results by communicating expectations collaboratively through analysis; employee development; and documented quality systems, policies, and procedures.
- Keep informed of current food and drug acts and regulations.
- Maintains and enhances quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Champion the Quality System and ensure compliance to the IFS regulations, including managing the HACCP food safety program and all aspects of the associated prerequisites.
- Reviews specifications, as necessary, to allow for maximum productivity while meeting customer specifications and required performance of the finished goods.
- Monitoring and improving steps of the Quality Management System process, including updating reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrective actions and preventative actions; and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Research quality related issues affecting the industry to ensure continual supply of raw materials to meet customer specifications in accordance with the MPPLP purchasing standards and protocols.
- Liaises and collaborates cross functionally to troubleshoot customer concerns by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-based area of study or related science discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on quality experience in packaging or food industry operations, with leadership experience.
- Experience in implementing/maintaining and auditing Food Safety Quality standards IFS GFSI Training.
- Formal training in Quality Management Systems (QMS), Continuous Quality Improvement, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Food Safety (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP); all considered an asset.
