Job Description
Maul Foster & Alongi, Inc. (MFA) is seeking a full-time Project Planner with the flexibility to work out of any of our offices. As our Project Planner, you will manage diverse projects in Washington and Oregon, collaborating with clients and stakeholders. Your project management expertise, coupled with a passion for land use planning, real estate development, environmental planning, and municipal finance, will drive successful outcomes. As a Project Planner, you will be involved in all aspects of project execution, from analysis, report and proposal writing to comprehensive project management. This is an opportunity to work on an array of different projects, as the prime contact for clients, shaping the future of communities and making a tangible impact.
As a Project Planner, you will...
  • Assist in client and regulatory agency discussions and negotiations.
  • Support project planning, cost estimating, permitting, and reporting needs.
  • Assist in development of planning concepts and strategies in collaboration with a team.
  • Work on a variety of projects for public and private sector clients including master planning, site planning, grant pursuits, real estate development strategy, brownfield redevelopment, and strategic planning.
  • Work independently and solicit input from mentors.
  • Support community engagement and communications activities.
  • Assist in development and implementation of proposals, scopes, schedules, and budgets for project work.
To thrive in this role, you must have...
  • Ability to work independently and under supervision of a project manager and collaboratively managing others.
  • Proficiency in MS Software, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Sound technical capabilities and organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed analytical abilities and impeccable writing skills.
  • Familiarity with Washington and/or Oregon land use laws, regulations & policy.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with land use or environmental planning, urban design, real estate development, community/economic development, and/or permitting.
  • Ability to work comfortably as a project manager within a team environment.
  • AICP certification or desire to achieve one a plus!
  • Growing knowledge of the philosophies, principles, practices, and techniques of land use planning.
  • Experience in a consulting environment a plus!
  • Be a strong writer with a curious intellect.
  • Bachelor's degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, environmental science, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Excellent oral and visual communication skills.

Compensation Range: $80,000 to $103,000 a year
