PROJECT MANAGER - Strategic Initiatives


Hybrid Work Model - Toronto, Ontario


Full-time, Permanent


This is a full-time, Monday to Friday job. Hybrid work model with a mix of remote (2 days) & in-office (3 days) work at PACE’s Head Office located at 970 Lawrence Avenue West.


Salary: $69,600 - $83,106

PACE Independent Living is a not-for-profit community organization that provides support services to adults with disabilities so they can live independently in the community. Reporting to the Director, Strategy, Quality & Risk, we are seeking a talented Project Manager with strong business analysis, collaboration and mentoring skills to deliver value and results that will have a positive impact on our business and the lives of our clients.


This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide end-to-end project and change management support to lead implementation of strategic initiatives involving senior leaders, frontline staff and in some instances, external stakeholders.


The position serves as coach and expert in project management to multi-disciplinary teams in helping them successfully learn, manage and execute all phases of the project life cycle.


Primary Responsibilities


Partnering with the Project Sponsor, will work closely together to Lead, Implement and Evaluate Organizational Strategic Projects.


  • Facilitates discussions with team members and stakeholders including coaching, mentoring, influencing and motivating project team members to take positive action and accountability while effectively communicating project expectations in a clear and timely manner.
  • Conducts post-project reviews/lessons learned and makes recommendations to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Provides other supports to the Project Sponsors/Working Groups including preparation of agendas, meeting minutes, briefing reports, status reports and other documentation requirements.
  • Ensures project delivery processes are executed using LEAN principles to monitor scope, milestones, risks, contingency plans and other troubleshooting throughout the project life cycle.
  • Creates detailed project schedules which identifies and sequences the activities required to successfully complete the project.
  • Manages the project planning process including defining scope, budget, benefits, resource requirements, key performance indicators, milestones and deliverables that align with business objectives.


Education, Knowledge And Experience


  • 5-7 years’ experience leading multi-stakeholder project teams
  • Knowledge of PMI project management, change management principles, stakeholder facilitation, resource planning, risk management tools and methodologies.
  • Financial management knowledge to manage project budgets, escalate budget requests or reallocation accordingly.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or PRINCE2 Project Management certification, or working towards
  • Understanding of quality and process improvement concepts
  • Degree in health or social care, business administration or relevant discipline


Skills/Attributes/Competencies


  • Excellent resiliency skills to adapt to shifting priorities and operate without process and structure.
  • Valid Police Reference Check (vulnerable persons) required.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical-thinking skills to provide leadership in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products e.g., Project, Visio, Excel and PowerPoint etc.
  • Advanced planning, organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent coaching and mentorship skills to build capacity within the project teams.
  • Excellent written, verbal and facilitation skills to organize, synthesize, write and convey information in a compelling way.
  • Strong facilitation, consensus building, and relationship building skills to influence and guide team dynamics to generate positive results.
