Duration : 12 months Contract

Location : Remote (Chalk River, ON)

Experience

• A thorough knowledge of business and management principles involved in project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of resources
• Good knowledge and demonstrated experience in application of negotiation skills
• 4-5 years progressive experience and resulting knowledge of applying 9 Project Management Areas including (Scope, Cost, Time, QA, Communications, Human Resources, Risk, Procurement, and Integration) to medium-risk projects. Experience in the delivery of a project in a regulatory framework
• Ability to build and sustain moderately-sized teams; typically between 6 and 12 teams members
• A thorough knowledge of procurement and financial processes
• Ability to nurture and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with a moderate number of internal and some external contacts
• Good knowledge and demonstrated experience in application of contract administration and Research & Development, and oversight to effectively manage the output of external suppliers.
• Ability to nurture and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with a moderate number of stakeholders.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook)
• Works with minimal supervision and direction. Must be self-motivated to achieving desired objectives through deliberate planning and execution of work tasks

Responsibilities

• Reports on project performance to clients, management and other stakeholders. Manages customer/client expectations and satisfaction throughout the project’s duration
• Occasional site visits may be required depending on the stage of the project
• Negotiates with suppliers, contractors and internal staff, to ensure project phases are delivered on time, within budget and at the client’s expected level of delivery/quality
• Manages project risk with regular review with development of mitigation strategies and escalation to Management, as required.
• Approves project scope of work and determines project priorities and division of responsibilities.
• Project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, through discussions with stakeholders to define the scope of the project, deliverables and timing. May lead 10-15 projects totalling $5M to $10M annually, over a 3-5 year horizon
• Using good knowledge of business and management principles is involved in project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, through discussions with internal clients to define the scope of the project, deliverables and timing. May lead 10-15 projects totalling $5M to $10M annually, over a 3-5 year horizon. Authorizes project expenditures; e.g., purchase orders, invoices and expense claims; within limits of delegated authority
• Manage the delivery of medium-risk S&T projects to meet schedule, cost, quality and safety objectives to the full satisfaction of customers
• Good presentation skills. Can make effective presentations to internal and external audiences, consistently at senior level levels and is savvy at using all venues of media technology in the delivery of professional presentations
• Manage and reports on project performance to stakeholders and management. Lead the ongoing delivery of project objectives including setting project related performance objectives, providing regular feedback and guidance to project staff. Establishes and administers project budgets and schedules and approves changes to scope of work within project management guidelines.

• Secure resources through resource/functional managers to execute the project
