Purpose:
The incumbent provides support for one or more of York's Enterprise systems such as the Alumni/Fundraising System, PeopleSoft HCM and Financials and the IBM Maximo Asset Management System. This includes translating the requirements into technical specifications, designing and developing solutions, ensuring that the systems are available and functioning efficiently, troubleshooting production problems, providing technical support to users, developing custom modules and systems, and modifying and upgrading software.
Education:
- College Diploma in Computer Science or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
- Three (3) years of current and continuous programming experience in Information Systems Technology, which includes: 1 year experience providing technical support for an ERP application using reporting tools (e.g., BIRT, Oracle BI Publisher, Actuate, OBIEE) and programming languages such as PHP, Python, SQL, Java, and JavaScript, and 2 years development experience with PL/SQL against Oracle 12C or higher on Unix environments. Demonstrated experience writing and executing SQL statements is required.
- Experience with PeopleSoft HCM or Financials, IBM Maximo and/or Ellucian Advance applications is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with the system development lifecycle, handling sensitive data sets, promotion from development to production and a thorough understanding of relational database technology is required.
- Experience using PeopleSoft development tools (Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine) is preferred.
Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies in a rapidly changing environment.
- Working knowledge of Oracle database environments.
- Knowledge of programming languages and environments utilizing structured techniques, systems analysis and design, relational databases, principles and techniques of programmin
- Knowledge of source control tools.
- Detail oriented with excellent follow through.
- Working knowledge of Visual Studio.NET, Java Script, CSS, XML is preferred.
- Ability to create, modify, integrate, and deploy software to solve problems and enable new functionality, update modify, test and repair existing software to ensure continued service availability, identify, test and monitor how problems affect system functionality and performance, contribute towards recommendations for departmental policies and procedures.
- Knowledge in the areas of Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Facilities Management and/or Fundraising is preferred.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task across numerous work streams to meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a technical team comprised of internal and external resources for development, troubleshooting, and other technical efforts.
