HIRING SALARY RANGE: $66,206.00 - $74,482.00 per annum


MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $82,757.00 per annum

Area Of Responsibility


Reporting to the Manager, Equity Office, this role is responsible for working as part of an integrated Equity Office Team to provide coordination and solutions that respond to organizational needs and build capacity/capability at an organization, leader, and/or team level in the areas of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).


The Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and/or administering dynamic, engaged, and employee-oriented Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion programs ensuring that the program continues to meet the needs of the City while considering leading practices. The Coordinator role also takes on projects and research that furthers Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion programs and services. Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of daily workflow activities, programs, processes, and project initiatives by established timelines. Provide coordination and analytical support services to maintain a smooth and efficient operation of the Equity Office through research, reporting, administration, analysis, and documentation management to meet operational needs and corporate service standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Conducts and evaluates research, analyzes and reports on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives and results (statistical, trend, and data analysis, etc.), develops consistent metrics and reporting, and makes recommendations for continuous improvements, budget allocation, etc.
  • Develops processes, timelines, implementation, and/or change management strategies and associated communication to support excellence in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion program delivery.
  • Provides consultation and service to internal customers to ensure program usage is high and compliant with standards. Ensures alignment with corporate vision and strategic priorities, and relevant legislative requirements.
  • OPERATION SUPPORT
  • Monitors and assesses EDI issues and assists the Manager of the Equity Office and other staff in the Equity Office with planning, implementing, project follow-up, work schedules, and priorities for EDI issues.
  • TEAMWORK & COOPERATION
  • Builds and maintains a relationship with cross-functional departments, teams, management, external contacts, and clients, to foster and support coordination while carrying out accountabilities.
  • Acts as a resource to employees regarding Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion programs and provides education/ training about program processes as applicable. Support the facilitation of training to develop leaders’ or employees’ skills in specific program areas.
  • Maintain up-to-date files, documentation, correspondence, or other relevant materials and ensure necessary sign-offs and approvals meet policies and respect confidentiality.
  • Provide management of office administrative tasks including maintenance of the Equity Office websites and financial administration.
  • Supports a culture of continuous learning by fostering ideas and outreach strategies to help employees experience the value of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) learning and the benefits of both formal and informal learning.
  • COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING
  • Assists with drafting and updating related Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion communication materials; including, employee portal content, information sessions, program updates, learning opportunities, surveys, etc. Ensures implementation is communicated through the appropriate channels and manages the logistics of sending and receiving data.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with cross-functional departments, teams, management and external partners, and vendors, to foster and support program delivery and coordination.
  • CORPORATE CONTRIBUTION
  • Responds to inquiries’ prioritize requests, respond accordingly to meet customer expectations, and escalate inquiries for resolution.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE
  • Provides support within the Division and other Divisions by providing information on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion issues, providing advice on requirements, and reviewing reports.
  • Leads or participates in special events, outreach, and community engagement initiatives, or projects teams, representing the Equity Office as required.
  • Work collaboratively to assist with planning and developing programs and events that aid in the ongoing efficient and effective delivery of progressive and comprehensive EDI activities within the City of Brampton, specifically considering and incorporating perspectives of Indigenous communities, Blacks, and other racialized groups.
  • Researches and analyze market trends, online tools, and publications, and develops ideas for enhancing and sustaining program structures and content, including implementation of best practices and the development of innovative Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion programs, tools, and techniques.


Education


SELECTION CRITERIA:


  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline or Indigenous Studies, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Social Service Work, Public Administration and/or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience


Required Experience


  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with equity-deserving groups
  • Proficient in the knowledge and understanding of the importance of building and maintaining relationships with equity-deserving groups, cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity, and effective communication
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience in program coordination preferably in public or non-governmental agencies


Other Skills And Assets


  • Knowledge of Municipal, Regional, Provincial, and Federal Governments and applicable Legislation is an asset
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office/software
  • Project Management Professional Designation is an asset
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills with political acumen
  • Demonstrated Customer Service skills; Interface with internal and external customers to meet corporate service standards and goals of the Division
  • Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills; Detail oriented, well organized, and able to coordinate and multi-task to accomplish a variety of tasks and activities with conflicting priorities and timelines
  • Ability to identify business needs, initiate and coordinate project resource requests
