Job Description
Are you a current high school student looking for a fun summer job and/or experience in the healthcare field? Our Program Assistant I position would be a great fit for you!!
Currently offering a $250 sign on bonus after two weeks of employment, $500 after 6 months of employment, and $500 after a year and a $250 training bonus!
Position Purpose
The Program Assistant I functions as an advocate for the individuals served by The Phoenix Residence, Inc., and performs, supervises, and assists individuals with the activities of daily living through teaching, training, development and implementation of active treatment and individual program plans. This position not does include direct cares.
Nature And Scope
The Program Assistant I reports to the Program Manager or Program Coordinator, who reports to the Community Living Coach, who reports to the Program Director who reports to the Vice President of Community Services, who reports to the President. This position requires working every other weekend and holidays, as scheduled. This is a non-exempt position.
Essential Functions Of The Job - Program Assistant I
  • Provides each individual with the level of supervision needed, as identified in their Coordinated Service and Support Plan.
  • Adheres to data privacy rules and regulations. Safeguards individual information in accordance with Phoenix policy.
  • Implements Programs and Services outlined in the Coordinated Service and Support Plan.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures/rules and regulations of The Phoenix Residence and its governing agencies.
  • Assists with activities of daily living and health maintenance using person centered practices.
  • Assists with grooming tasks such as shaving and nail care but not intimate cares.
  • Serves as an advocate for the individuals served by The Phoenix Residence.
  • Follows all safety rules and reports any unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor.
  • Completes household operations, including but not limited to cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping for supplies and grocery ordering as necessary.
  • Has working knowledge of and complies with all regulations: All sites: Rule 245D, Rules 10, 185, the Positive Support Rule and the Funding Rules. ICF/DD sites must also comply with ICF/DD Federal Regulations, Supervised Living Facility Regulations, Life Safety Code, and Food and Beverage regulations.
  • Performs tasks which fall within Category II of infection control; which may include exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
  • Completes all necessary documentation in conjunction with program plans and all other documentation as required.
  • Assists with community engagement, assists with social, religious and recreational activities as desired by the individuals served by Phoenix.

  • Operates and maintains household, client and office equipment safely.
  • Maintains and fosters cordial and professional relationships at all times.
  • Displays cooperative, supportive and positive conduct and presents self as an effective role model in representing The Phoenix Residence.
  • Frequently lifts up to 75 pounds and transfers individuals safely.
  • Frequently sits, stands, stoops, bends, reaches, and pushes/pull wheelchairs.
  • As requested identifies and responds to individuals' needs in emotional and social areas; however, intervention in these areas does not fall within the meaning of psychotherapy.
  • Assists in the development and training of others, as necessary.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and meets annual training requirements.
Qualifications
  • Ability to coordinate activities and services.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English Language in order to adequately interact and respond to the individuals and meet their service needs.
  • Ability to use a computer for required documentation, communication and time log purposes.
  • High School diploma or equivalency preferred.
  • One year of experience working with individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities or human services related field, preferred.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, and written.
  • Ability to see and hear adequately in order to make assessments and respond to individuals' needs.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies according to established The Phoenix Residence policies and procedures.
  • Ability to be trained in CPR and First Aid within first sixty (60) days of employment.
