Puppy Program needs more help! Autism Dog Services (ADS) trains and places service dogs for autism assistance. The puppy program has gained momentum as we have more dogs in training in order to service the waitlist.
We are looking for a dog trainer to join our pack on a part time basis at 15 hours/week. Please review the following post to see if you qualify to apply.
Preferred Location:
Home office and Community within the K-W, Guelph, Cambridge, Brantford and Hamilton area.

TBD based on experience
FTE/PTE:
P/T– 15 hrs/wk flexible (day shift, evenings and weekends)

Puppy Program Manager
Role and Responsibilities
Position Requirements
·Potential housing of dogs/pups in emergency situations and/or for assessments
·Basic knowledge of dog obedience training, dog behaviours and dealing with medical issues.
·Puppy Class Support and Home Support Training
·Dog Whelping experience would be an asset.
·Human and Dog CPR/First Aid would be recommended.
·Other duties as assigned.
DUTIES:
1.Assist Puppy Program Manager in whatever is needed and at puppy class.
2.Assist with Volunteer Orientation session.
3.Conduct in-home equipment/food set up and deliveries.
4.Assist with puppy transports to sitters, medical and grooming appointments, puppy swaps, etc.
5.House dogs in own home for assessments and/or crisis situations (can be last minute)
6.Puppy pick up from breeder and puppy disbursement to puppy raisers
7.Provide ultimate customer service while representing ADS and good interpersonal skills.
8.Comfortable working as a team player and independently especially in virtual setting
9.Must be set up with a home office space and appropriate equipment (laptop, printer, scanner)
10.Participate in ADS events and promotional or fundraising activities.
11.Maintain accurate files and documentation related to puppy logs, databases, spreadsheets, etc.
12.Future opportunity to be added to on call roster if applicable.
Qualifications:
3 years’ experience working with service dogs and/or training dogs basic obedience.
Experience handling and training puppies.
Experience working with volunteers.
Valid drivers’ license and willing to travel regionally.
Willing to house dogs in personal home and a part of their family life.

Well- developed interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to work independently.
Superior customer service skills
Strong computer knowledge
Presentation skills
Knowledge of Autism and other special needs.
