Why Your Role Matters

The School of Business is one of four schools at the University of New South Wales Canberra. This position will be located at University of New South Wales (UNSW) Canberra’s city campus. The School of Business offers a multi-disciplinary and collaborative work environment focusing on delivering high quality teaching in both undergraduate and postgraduate committed to preparing students for success in a wide range of fields. We are an internationally accredited business school and have a research and education strengths in the areas of governance, strategic decision-making, public-sector implementation and management, logistics, diversity, and business systems modelling.

The school also offers high quality research programs at the masters and PhD level. This role will be filled at Level E.

Responsibilities

The primary role of the Professor of Practice of Public Sector Management is to identify and implement strategies to enhance the design and provision of professional education courses in public sector leadership, management, and implementation in the School of Business. The role is to build partnerships with relevant external stakeholders, to identify new business development opportunities and to generate increased revenue from professional education courses and research in public sector leadership and management. The Professor of Practice will also work with the School of Business to improve the quality and maintain the relevancy of short course provision. The role will also contribute to the Education delivery at UNSW Canberra.

Who You Are

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A strong commitment to supporting public leadership, management and administration academics to build relationships with government and industry partners.
• The highest professional standing in public sector leadership, management and implementation aligned with UNSW Canberra’s interests in government, industry, defence or defence industry, or appropriate commercial and industrial sectors.
• A deep understanding of the opportunities for relationships between university education and potential customers in government and industry and demonstrated experience in relationship building and management across these stakeholder groups.
• An understanding of, and commitment to, UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
• Ability and capacity to direct and monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the safety.
• High level interpersonal, leadership, management, implementation and evaluation skills, with demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate effectively with academics, members of the community, government, Defence, professional and industry bodies.

Eligibility

The successful candidate will be required to work from the UNSW Canberra campus. To be successful you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. UNSW is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
