Production Engineer/Technologist, Light Oil

Baytex is seeking a Production Engineer/Technologist with a minimum of 3 - 10 years’ experience to join our team in our Head Office in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and developing optimal production strategies for the Viking Asset. They will strive to maximize value by applying innovative production, cost optimization, and problem-solving skills. This individual will work closely with the operations team providing operational support and technical guidance.They will demonstrate leadership of Baytex’s safety values and policies with staff, vendors, and suppliers.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Act as a liaison between field operations and Calgary staff; provide technical support to field operations and interface with staff specialists.
• Provide input into the evaluation of potential growth and development opportunities.Work with the asset team to develop growth strategies.
• Assist Operations with day-to-day production/infrastructure issues and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical support to production accounting to ensure proper setup and reporting.
• Review daily production and compile weekly production reports.
• Ensure wells are completed and operated in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner.
• Provide input into the forecast of production performance to predict revenues, identify problems and plan work programs.
• Review and promote the application of new equipment, techniques and report results achieved.
• Assist with waterflood performance and analytics.
• Work with asset team members (Exploitation, Exploration, Land and Field Operations) to set, monitor and meet production targets while optimizing production and maximizing value within operating budgets.
• Seek ways to improve revenue generation by optimizing base production and minimizing costs.Evaluate well and field performance and make improvements where possible with workovers, stimulations and facility improvements. Understand well performance versus Type curves.

The ideal candidate is a well-organized team player who demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, self-motivated, developed analytical skills and is adaptable to changing priorities. Experience with data analytics and using Power BI or similar tools would be an asset.Preference will be given to those with light oil production and completions experience.
