Job Description

Steel River Group is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our growing team of experienced and dedicated professionals. The Procurement Specialist will be integral part in assisting the analysis and preparation of contracts, buying & expediting, also closely working with the project managers and project coordinators as well as outside vendors to meet project requirements. This individual will work closely with construction & operations to achieve optimal project outcomes.


Key Job Duties:


  • Works with project teams to develop contracting and package strategies, procurement objectives, sourcing criteria, and purchase recommendations for materials and services
  • Provide procurement strategies that improve overall purchasing and procurement processes.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with suppliers as well as internal and external clients.
  • Perform audits of PO’s and subcontractor agreements
  • Issue purchase orders and expedite purchase orders as required.
  • Maintain vendor approval schedule and ensure the data integrity of vendor information relating to procurement.
  • Support the economic and social well-being of the communities the company operates in, leading local and Indigenous procurement practices.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned. These duties may fall out of the scope as described to support the business in whatever capacity deemed required.
  • Maintains RFP’s (Requests for Proposals) and RFQ’s (Requests for Quotation), proposal evaluation criteria, supplier proposals, match exceptions, requisitions, sourcing strategies, terms and conditions, and purchase/service orders.
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and systems according to company practices.
  • Contract administration duties
  • Support supply chain planning through collaborating with other departments to assess present and future demands.
  • Maintain all supporting information related to purchases and procurement processes
  • Purchase of supplies, equipment and inventory resources in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Evaluate and negotiate supplier pricing, capability, quality, performance, and delivery to meet established service level requirements.


Knowledge/Experience Required:


  • Possess a clear working knowledge of procurement process, expediting, inspection, document control, traffic and logistics aspects of the procurement process and the interfaces between them.
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement or supply chain management experience (procurement, contracts, logistics management, inventory management and/or warehouse operations)
  • Strong ability to organize and plan computer literacy, time management, project planning and project deliverables.
  • Professional certification in procurement / expediting or in pursuit of certification is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or equivalent.
  • Must be a self starter and motivated working under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong presentation and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and SAP
  • Ability to multitask, in both capacities of handling multiple clients/jobs/projects and be able to carry out multiple tasks and scalability within each project.
