Process Engineer/Manufacturing Engineer/Continuous Improvement Engineer

We are seeking a Process Engineer to plan, direct and coordinate the improvement of manufacturing processes in the Plant by applying engineering principles and SPC methodologies to improve the operation.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential;
• Work hands on with the floor operations and maintenance team to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes. Identify Root cause for failures/Gaps and implement countermeasures.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions;
• Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Develop scrap reduction solutions.
• Performs analysis on competitive products in order to determine strengths and weaknesses of competing products;
• Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards;
• Reviews and makes recommendations to improve flow of materials and improve current information systems in the extrusion department.
• Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes;
• Collaborates with the R&D department to develop, organize and report on R&D trials as they relate to process improvements;

Qualifications

• Strong demonstrated experience in continuous improvement (Root cause analysis- 6W2H, Why-Why Analysis, Fishbone, etc) and teamwork.
• Expert skills level in data analysis;
• Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems required. PLC Logic understanding would be an asset.
• A chemical or mechanical or industrial engineer with hands on experience on the floor working with Equipment / Maintenance team/ Operations.
• Strong Leadership and interpersonal communication skills;
• Manufacturing experience is required.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point)
• Experience with extrusion, Die casting, molds, polymer science or polymer manufacturing experience and knowledge of HDPE, PP, LDPE and LLDPE would be an asset
