Plant Operations Engineer Jobs

Position Summary

To perform maintenance of equipment and buildings to pre-set standards of excellence as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• Hospital experience is an asset.
• Know and follow policies and procedures related to Code of Conduct, Workplace Health and Safety, and Workplace Violence and Harassment.
• Hold a current Stationary Engineer or Refrigeration Operator certificate issued by the T.S.S.A.
• Contribute to patient safety by identifying and reporting patient safety hazards/risks when performing your daily duties.
• Know and follow infection control/hand hygiene practices.
• Use sound judgement and awareness of potential hazards before acting.
• Promptly report faulty equipment/errors/events or situations of actual or potential event or harm.
• Commitment to privacy and confidentiality.
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent that is acceptable to the hospital.
• General mechanical skills as may be required to complete the work assigned.
• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Workers Safety and Insurance Act.
• Know and follow policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties.
• Contribute to a positive work life and physical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the operation of all automated or semi-automated building service equipment.
• Maintain chemical and mechanical reliability of all boiler systems.
• Continually evaluate the performance of all plant equipment/systems and recommend any changes which may effect an improvement of that performance.
• Participate in the decision-making process.
• Participate in the development and implementation of goals and objectives.
• Perform all preventive maintenance as may be required under the Preventive Maintenance Program for Plant Operations.
• Perform all demand maintenance as may be assigned.
• Participate in On Call/Call ins.
• Participate on Task Forces and Working Groups.
• Maintain in good standing all Ministry Certificates required.
• Apply interpersonal skills that support the philosophies of our organization and our Mission, Vision and Values statement.
• Accomplish work in a clean, professional manner while complying with all standards, regulations or codes applying to hospital team members, i.e. Occupational Health & Safety, Fire Procedures and Code, etc.
• Clean mechanical rooms and work areas as per schedule.

Other Pertinent Conditions

Must be available to work On Call/Call in Rotation.
