Engineer - Plant - Roctel Mfg.

The Engineer - Plant position will be responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, and/or repair of plant building(s) or machinery and conduct studies to develop and supervise programs to enhance efficiency and productivity. In addition, may establish standards and policies regarding pollution control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment. This position may act as an internal consultant providing technical guidance on most complex projects.

Performance Expectations

• Review scale drawings to ensure the proposed designs satisfy the clients' expectations and comply with manufacturing capabilities.
• Develop flexible or integrated manufacturing systems and procedures.
• Maintain Pre Start Health & Safety Review compliance list and coordinate compliance activities on an ongoing basis.
• Establish programs and conduct studies to enhance industrial health and safety or to identify and correct fire and other hazards.
• Study new machinery and facilities and recommend or select efficient combinations.
• Supervise technicians, technologists, specialists, administrative staff and other engineers.
• Conduct studies of the reliability and performance of plant facilities and production or administrative systems.
• Analyze costs of production.
• Assist in coordinating third party audits (registrars) for EHSMS System.
• Design, develop and conduct time studies and work simplification programs.
• Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs.
• Work with outside vendors and suppliers to oversee compliance with safety regulations and completion of work.
• Conduct studies and implement programs to optimize inventory levels for production and to utilize all machinery, materials and resources.
• Plan and maintain plant layout and control any changes in AUTOCAD.
• Act as liaison to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
• Evaluate or assess industrial facilities.

Credentials

• Ability to write comprehensive entries into technical log books.
• Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is essential to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
• Ability to evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations.
• Able to communicate clearly in all formats (i.e. written, verbal, drawing formats etc.)
• Ability to take precise measurements using specialized equipment and techniques.
• Post-Secondary Degree in Industrial Engineering or in a related Engineering discipline.

Desired Characteristics

• Proficiency in all applicable software applications (e.g. Microsoft office including Project, Auto Cad, Solidworks).
• Knowledge of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.
• Able to interact with various departments for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules.
• Attend formal professional development seminars and conferences as needed.
