Job Description

HJ Machine & Pattern (HJM), an ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturing company based in Waterloo, ON, is looking for a seasoned leader with exceptional result-oriented managerial skills to lead the design and manufacturing operations in our facility. HJM is known for robotic, automated, inspection, assembly and welding stations, gauges & fixtures. The company provides CAD/CAM, CNC and CMM services to automotive, defence, oil & gas, mining, machine manufacturing, foundries, agriculture, and other industries. It has design/manufacturing, machining, and after-market service capabilities.

We are looking for a result-oriented and creative individual experienced in developing organizational structure and empowering self-directed teams while improving the company’s EBITDA and providing strategic advice on the company’s growth plan. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the effective implementation of all modules of ERP (E2 Job boss).
  • Maintain regular liaison with executive management and workers relating to production opportunities and needs to meet company demands.
  • Perform regular project management, and resource management.
  • Ensure that all required tooling, material, programming and other resources are available as required by production.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the plant by setting daily/weekly/monthly objectives, schedules, responsibilities and communicating those to the employees.
  • Support sales activities by providing costing and estimation for each project.
  • Identify and bridge gaps in processes to maintain safety, quality and production standards.
  • Ensure that jobs are manufactured on time, in the most efficient manner, and to the best quality level.
  • Ensure effective implementation/improvement of quality management systems.
  • Monitor and maintain facility KPIs (operational & strategic) including P&L and production targets.
  • Establish an effective monitoring mechanism to monitor capacity usage.
  • Build a strong team by recruiting, developing and managing plant staff.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all machines to make efficient use of the complete facility.
  • Implement and maintain effective continues improvement plan including corrective & preventive actions, Lean- kaizen six sigma etc. Provide necessary support to purchasing and office staff on material requisitions.
  • Supervise maintenance requirements to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

  • Quick learner and strong leader skilled in communication, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, business development and managing customer relationships.
  • Experience in HAAS 3 and 5 Axis milling CNC (VF5, VF4, Mini-mill), as well as numerical controlled lathe, milling, surface grinder, and other machining processes would be an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Trade Certificate in Mechatronics/ Mechanical/Electronics /Electrical Engineering (or some combination)
  • Efficient in operational planning and deployment and developing processes to maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.
  • Experience in Automation and Robotics processes.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of 6 sigma, lean-Kaizen tools, Quality Management Systems such as ISO9000, AS9100.
  • 6-15 years of proven experience as a Plant Supervisor/Superintendent or similar role leading a team of 10+ employees.
  • Ability to track expenses and run projections.
  • Change agent with a drive to succeed and contribute to critical strategic objectives.
