About the role:
ASI is excited to partner with an iconic retail fashion brand and are looking to recruit a Planning Manager in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). In this role, you will be responsible for selecting merchandise, planning long-term buying strategies, as well as negotiating price structures, delivery dates, specific merchandise requirements, and contracts. Since much of the ordering must be done in advance, you'll also need to be an intelligent, balanced risk taker.
What you’ll do:
- Keep abreast of fashion trends and upcoming opportunities in the marketplace
- Work closely with Head of Merchandising and Buying to ensure there is a balances range for all platforms (Stores and E-Commerce) in line with trend predictions and budget requirements
- To guard the margin without compromising the quality of the product
- Create and maintain weekly/monthly reporting as well as seasonal hindsight's
- Management of the promo calendar and MD cadence to hit inventory turn, and margin KPI's
- To do the buy and set up buying schedules to meet delivery requirements for all parts of the business
- Present at weekly meetings both trades and best sellers
- Liaise with Retail District Manager, Visual Merchandising Team, Finance Team, Logistics
- Manage spend, planning quantities, and width versus depth of buy
- Management of team and coaching with completion of team reviews twice yearly
- To identify key strategic improvements within fits to improve critical path
- Plan top lines areas across sales, options, terminal and recodes
- Ad Hoc analysis as needed
What you’ve done:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in retail merchandising or buying
- Digital Merchandising experience is an asset
- Must be a strategic thinker, flexible, decisive, detail oriented and capable of identifying and adapting to changing trends and challenges
- Strong communication skills
- Strong presentations skills and ability to communicate brand strategy and vision across all levels of the company
