Personal Assistant


Location: Basildon, Essex


Salary: £26,095 - £31,605 per annum (depending on experience) includes £1,250 Essex Allowance


Hours: 37.5 per week, Full time


At our site in North Benfleet, Essex, we aim to develop a clear set of transitional steps through our Division to enable our patients to be supported in their progress. We care for men and women aged 18 years and over with complex mental health needs in a low-security and locked environment.


The successful candidates will have proven Personal Assistant experience at Director Level, with excellent communication and organisational skills with high level calibre of minute taking and report writing experience. The ability to work to tight deadlines and accurate keyboard skills are essential, as well as being innovative and cohesive in their ways of working.


Confidentiality and effective communication are paramount to this role as the work involves dealing with sensitive information.


St Andrew’s Healthcare is a charity providing specialist mental healthcare services. We work in partnership with a number of NHS, voluntary, educational and research organisations to deliver a range of specialist inpatient and community mental healthcare services, education and research that helps to improve the lives of people with complex mental health needs.


Summary Of Role


  • Sharing skill mix within the administrative team in the division
  • Provide support for meeting, including preparation and distribution of agendas, attending the meetings to take notes and actions and transcription, circulation and follow up
  • To provide an efficient and effective administrative service to Clinical Director / Service Directors and Associate Director of Nursing
  • Manage diaries and organise meetings / events ensuring all supporting arrangements are covered


Your profile


  • You will have gained experience in a similar role within a similar setting. Strong all round administration and organisational skills are essential.
  • You will have a proven ability to produce high quality, professional documents, with intermediate/ advanced keyboard skills. You need good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (intermediate level Word & Outlook) and be able to understand financial and statistical information. You will have previous experience in, and be confident with taking and transcribing minutes of meetings.
  • Able to work collaboratively or on your own initiative, you will have a strong customer focus and good communication skills.
