Job Description

THE ORGANIZATION


The Martin Family Initiative is a registered charity that works together with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people to support education, health, and overall well-being for children, youth, and adults.


MFI’s newest initiative is an e-learning and knowledge sharing hub called the Training & Resources for Early Education & Schools (TREES) Network. It is a space for delivering and accessing culturally appropriate training, professional development, resources, support circles and peer mentorship opportunities for Indigenous and non-Indigenous learning professionals working with Indigenous children and families.


POSITION SUMMARY


Reporting to the Vice President and the Early Years Director, the Training & Resources for Early Education and Schools (TREES) Network Manager will manage and implement the development, application and evaluation of the TREES Network.


The position is permanent, full time.


The role:

  • Manage budgets related to the development and implementation of the TREES Network and related events.
  • Facilitate learning relationships within and between multiple MFI programs and program locations by establishing sustainable systems of peer mentorship.
  • Develop resources for the Networks including information sheets and interactive resources on a variety of topics pertaining to early childhood development, education, literacy, school leadership, and governmental funding mechanisms, at times in partnership with external organizations.
  • Participate actively in the creation and digitalization of the Model School Literacy Program (“MSLP”), Leadership in Teaching and Training (LITT) and Early Years (EY) content and resources for use on the TREES Network.
  • Work with MFI program directors and staff of MFI to facilitate the use of the TREES network across multiple programs and program locations.
  • Support the coordination of in-person group gatherings to support the development and ongoing establishment of the Networks.
  • Lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks for all Networks activities including data collected through the TREES Network as well as other program data.
  • Manage a team of staff and coordinate with the MFI team to enact a shared vision for the TREES Network.
  • Manage all supporting projects for the TREES Network to ensure content creation and course development happens in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Work with external consultants on the development and enactment of a Consumer Relations Management strategy as well as a scaling strategy for the Networks.
  • Ensure TREES Network program metrics are maintained and reporting requirements are met for internal and external purposes, including multiple funders.
  • Work closely with the Evaluation Team and external consultants to establish and implement a developmental evaluation framework that encapsulates all elements of the Networks, including but not limited to, trainings, communities of practice, peer mentorship, resources and events, to ensure that content is driven by user interests and needs.
  • Lead the ongoing development, adaptation and implementation of TREES Network communities of practice and adapt the framework as necessary.
  • Collaborate with MFI leadership team to develop a short- and long-term strategy around the TREES Network that aligns with MFI’s core competencies.
  • Ensure the TREES Network is accomplishing its goals of functioning as an online platform with interactive elements that enable relationship-building, collaborative learning, collective knowledge enhancement and evolving e-learning best practices.
  • Coordinate activities related to communications for the TREES Network such as social media and annual reports.


EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Complete weekly time tracking using Monday.com accountability tool.
  • Adapt to ongoing evolution of MFI team and deliverables.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Work remotely and independently and be available from 9am to 5pm of the time zone in which you are located.
  • Work with MFI senior leadership and program teams to ensure integration of MFI strategic direction.
  • Adhere to all MFI travel and expense policy guidelines.

PREFERRED KNOWLEGED & SKILLS

  • Ability to clearly receive and transmit information.
  • Knowledge around early childhood development and/ or anti-colonial theory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Master’s degree in a related field (Early Childhood Education, Education, Indigenous/Native Studies).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Organization and planning skills, ability to effectively manage workflow with multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
