Network Analyst
Intermediate (Protected Service environment)
Government of Alberta - ONSITE - Edmonton, AB
Description:
A Network Analyst, reporting to the NetOps Team Lead, is required for the following:
- Network review and Redesign of Core and Edge infrastructure to simply support, improve performance, and decommission aging hardware
- Migration to Cisco Catalyst / DNA Center for Wireless monitoring and management
- Tier 3 assistance for complex problems the operation team are working through
- Transition Cisco ASA Firewalls to the Cisco Secure Firewall platform (formerly FTD, managed using FMC)
- Will assist the Protected Services Unit with duties as required
The candidate will be responsible for implementing, modernizing, managing and supporting our network infrastructure, along with proactive monitoring, analysis and reporting.
• achieve a high availability IT network infrastructure and IT network services, in accordance with the Government hands-on implementation, upgrading, trouble-shooting of network software and hardware infrastructure.
• manage and prioritize workload. Check and balance the workload against the team requirements, to result in a service delivery model characterized by cross-training, workload sharing and collaborative team effort.
• effective teamwork and proficient communication with team members and supported ministries.
• lead and/or participate in networking projects, and plan, design, implement, support and document best practices.
• participate and contribute to cross-function IT projects by providing technical IT networking know-how and expertise.
• perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
• plan for software and hardware upgrades and/or migrations.
• develop and maintain documentation.
• develop network related procedures.
• provide cross training and knowledge transfer to team members.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Must meet or exceed one of the following:
• University graduation in computer science or a related discipline and 3-yr Network Analyst experience;
OR
• 2-yr diploma in computer science or a related discipline and 5-yr Network Analyst experience;
OR
• 1-yr certificate in computer science or a related discipline and 6-yr Network Analyst experience;
OR
• 7-yr Network Analyst experience
Active CCNA Certification or equivalent
2 years demonstrated hands-on experience with Cisco ACI including the planning, design, and implementation, of an intermediate to large scale network infrastructure.
3 years experience with Cisco layer 1-3 technologies, including the planning, design, and implementation, of an intermediate to large scale network infrastructure.
3 years direct involvement in developing best-practices documentation (for example, operational procedures, network diagrams, etc.).
2 years hands-on experience with QOS across an Enterprise Class organization, which includes devices such as (Catalyst 6500 switches, Nexus 9K, 7K, and 5K, ISR (29xx and 4xxx Series), ASR routers series, Cisco switches 2960 and 3650/3850, 4500 and 9600 series, including the planning, design, and implementation.
2 years experience working with 802.11 wireless networks.
2 years experience with networking aspects of Microsoft Windows desktop, servers, and nix based servers.
3 years experience providing customer service technical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
3 years Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) technologies.
2 years experience with BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and/or other routing protocols design and operations.
1 year knowledge and experience of MPLS and VPLS technologies.
2 years experience in the area of Data Centre’s Core Network design and Data Centre disaster recovery.
3 years experience with wireless WAN technologies.
1 year experience with network security and issues relating to “Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy” legislation as concerns the public sector.
1 year experience in performance measurement and creation of service level agreements.
4 years experience with IPV6, including the planning, design, and implementation, in an intermediate to large scale networks infrastructure.
3 years hands-on experience with Cisco OTV/ACI and the deployment of VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
2 years experience with Alberta SuperNet or similar network.
2 years experience in the Government of Alberta Domain environment or an environment of equivalent size and complexity.
1 year experience working with Project Management timelines and deliverables, including being responsible for critical reports and/or documentation.
2 years experience in developing front-end requirements for emerging technologies (feasibility, analysis and design phases).
1 year experience working in or for the public sector.
NOTES ON COMPUTER EQUIPMENT:
GoA will supply laptop or desktop.
NOTES ON LOCATION:
The resource will work mainly onsite in Edmonton, Alberta
RATE:
$62-$72/hour
