System Job Title: Balance Sheet Specialist 6

Leader Name: Director, Balance Sheet Strategy

As ATB's next Analyst, Balance Sheet Strategy, you will be supporting the Treasury Balance Sheet Strategy function through leveraging data to gain insights, conducting research and preparing reports and analysis that drive decisions impacting organizational performance. This role plays an important part in ensuring that ATB's balance sheet position is sound through analyzing and monitoring key performance metrics, using data analytics and methods in identifying optimization opportunities and understanding client and product behaviors as well as engaging in various process improvement projects. This role also supports industry research and other ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with various teams within and outside of Treasury on projects and initiatives.
• Support product and client behavior analytics using various programming languages and data analysis techniques.
• Develop, execute and maintain data management solutions for the team. Prepare data and assumption inputs for the various processes, models and infrastructures used within the team.
• Support continuous improvement and automation projects using programs such as SQL, Big Query, Python, etc.
• Prepare reporting and analysis on key performance and profitability metrics.
• Maintains and updates knowledge of key relevant trends and best practices, including conducting research and preparing periodic reports, presentations and papers.
• Synthesize complex data sources, interpret trends and patterns to generate insights. Leverage the use of various data sources to generate analytics that would lead to optimization opportunities.
• Ability to build and understand complex financial models. Document model development processes including updating and maintaining process guides.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of experience in a financial modeling, analysis, risk or Treasury role.
• Strong data analytics skills with applications of programming and coding languages in conducting analysis of varying scope and complexity.
• Strong understanding of a financial institution's product offerings, performance drivers, strategic and regulatory issues.
• An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, business, or engineering.
• Possessing or working towards a financial designation (CFA, FRM, etc.) considered an asset.
• Familiarity with asset liability management, interest rate risk management and liquidity management methods and practices.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other similar programming languages.
• Ability to translate complex topics into easily understood and useful information for the intended audience.
• Knowledge and/or previous experience with GCP platforms (i.e. BigQuery) considered an asset.
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills with an aptitude for developing creative and practical solutions.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, within a professional business environment.
