Job Description
Highlights of the job
We are hiring one full time, permanent Analyst, Network & Security (Automation) position working out of Edmonton, AB.
 
The Analyst, Network & Security will work with other specialized groups within EPCOR to manage and maintain our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and to support Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure. You will support a full stack of infrastructure to enable the safe and secure operation of power control systems and remote control of substation devices. You will build, refine and implement processes and innovative technical solutions to meet Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements and ensure a highly secure environment. 
 
In this role, you will work with your colleagues in the Operations Network & Security team team to manage a complex, multi domain, highly available environment that requires you to understand and interact with SCADA systems in real time.
 
This position may be eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program.
What you’d be responsible for
  • Utilizing scripting and automation to manage and maintain imaging, patch and application management systems for field laptops, ADMS servers and workstations.
  • Updating infrastructure drawings and documentation as needed.
  • Performing duties that comply with and support EPCOR’s NERC/ARS CIP policies covering: information classification, change management, access management, electronic security perimeter, physical security, malicious software prevention, security testing, ports and services management, patch management, security incident response, disaster recovery and audit evidence collection.
  • Designing, administering, securing and supporting EPCOR’s OT Enterprise Computing Infrastructure.
  • Evaluating, testing and implementing technical solutions to address regulatory, compliance, and business needs.
  • Working with EPCOR’s Information Technology teams to jointly support OT user-facing applications (ADMS/others).
  • Designing, administering and supporting network management, change management, vulnerability management, intrusion detection/prevention, SIEM, white-listing and anti-virus toolsets.
  • Assisting with troubleshooting SCADA network, communication and infrastructure issues.
  • Ensuring security systems are optimized, configured, and monitored to protect EPCOR s operational computing and communications infrastructure from malicious attacks and/or unintended changes.
  • Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
 
What’s required to be successful
  • Additional certifications and/or training in security are preferred
  • Experience with securing and supporting ADMS, OMS/DMS, SCADA or other real-time production systems is an asset
  • Familiarity with CIP regulatory standards is an asset
  • Exhibit a passion to learn, design, configure, monitor and optimize new or existing complex technical implementations
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in the field of Computing Science or Information Systems Technology. Equivalent combination of experience and training in a related field may be considered
  • Experience with risk and change assessment, analysis and management
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong level of technical skills with the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in security including threat identification, proactive defense, incident response, and development of mitigation strategies
  • Demonstrate a knowledgeable, innovative and achievement-oriented approach to solving technical problems
  • Strong data reporting skillsets (Power BI, SQL Reporting, RegEx, Excel) are an asset
  • Experience with log gathering, correlation logic, and analysis
  • 4+ years of directly related experience
  • Automation and scripting (PowerShell/VB/Python)
  • Network & endpoint security practices and products
  • Virtualization (server, desktop, network)
  • SIEM and log analysis and correlation toolsets
  • Enterprise server and storage systems (Cisco UCS, 3PAR)
  • Database administration (Microsoft SQL)
  • Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy-to-do business with a manner of working
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
