Qualifications


Education:


  • Post- secondary degree or diploma in media production, photography, marketing, or related field preferred.


Experience:


  • Two years in content production, photography/videography, or social media management an asset.


Overall Purpose: This role supports multimedia (photo/video/audio) production for BPL’s website, social media, and print materials, including content planning, scheduling, and capture, post-production, and posting. This person identifies opportunities to connect BPL’s mission, services, and resources to consumer trends and preferences in a way that strengthens our reputation and our relationship with the community.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Storing and organizing multimedia files.
  • Maintaining relationships with staff as co-creators and on-camera subjects.
  • Managing subscriptions for digital tools.
  • Shooting and editing professional-quality photos.
  • Additional position-related accountabilities assigned by management.
  • Obtaining consent from content subjects, and managing consent form database.
  • Tracking social media trends, digital advancements, and current events.
  • Incorporating content performance data into future planning.
  • Scripting, filming, and editing professional-quality videos.
  • Scheduling and posting social media content.
  • Developing ideas, and storyboarding concepts to promote key services and initiatives.
  • Creating and editing basic graphic designs.

  • MarCom colleagues, branch managers, librarians, Events Coordinator, senior management team


External:


  • Guest speakers, vendors for digital tools in use.


Scope:


Budget: No budget responsibility or purchase authority.

Leadership:

  • Interested in continuous learning of new multimedia tools and skills.
  • Can plan and allocate resources across multiple projects to maximize return.


Technical:


  • Photo, video, and audio editing skills.
  • High level of competence with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Professional photography and videography skills.
  • Ability to measure meaningful content performance metrics.
  • On-camera skills an asset.
  • Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite preferred.


Work Environment


  • BPL supports hybrid work environment; some work may be able to be completed remotely.
  • Branch to branch travelled required for content capture.


Working Hours


  • BPL is a 7 days per week service and schedules include regular evenings and weekends.


Physical and Mental Effort


  • Ability to bend and stretch to reach.
  • Some periods of high visual concentration and extended computer use will be performing tasks requiring accuracy and attention to detail on a computer (eg. editing post-production).
  • Critical thinking and strategic planning required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Some continuous physical exertion required such as moving, transporting, and setting up for equipment; walking, standing, moving equipment, lifting supplies, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
  • Normal physical activity such as periodic standing, walking, sitting, and the use of basic motor skills.
  • Ability to move materials and supplies (up to 50lbs.)
  • Light physical effort required to transport equipment.
