Job Description

Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) is a national non-profit association that represents over 7000 communication health professionals (speech-language pathologists, audiologists and communication health assistants). We are currently seeking a Membership Services Officer to join our team.


Position Overview


Reporting to the Manager of Membership and Programs, the Membership Services Officer supports the efficient and effective functioning of Speech-Language & Audiology Canada’s membership programs and services. The Membership Services Officer collaborates with internal teams, builds strong relationships with members and associates and plays a pivotal role in program and service delivery. In addition to supporting SAC’s valued membership, the Membership Services Officer will also help design and implement programs that will increase member and associate engagement.


Key Responsibilities


Member Support


  • Responding to inquiries about membership programs and services
  • Providing administrative assistance to designated SAC committees and volunteers, as required
  • Supporting key membership programs
  • Other administrative duties, as assigned
  • Processing membership applications and renewals
  • Developing application forms and program materials


Certification Program Support


  • Transition of members from Provisional to fully certified
  • Implement certification program policies, procedures and changes (internally and externally) and supporting members in achieving and maintaining their certification status.
  • Facilitation, delivery and support of the Certification program to members
  • Implementing the annual decertification process, including notifying members of decertification
  • Maintaining website and database content related to the Certification Program
  • Coordinating continuing education equivalent (CEE) resources and requirements
  • Processing certification enrolment applications and maintenance requirements


Member Database


  • Ensuring that the SAC membership database is organized and up to date, and supporting both internal and external stakeholders in navigating the database system.
  • Assists in developing database components to support membership and certification programs
  • Establishing and maintaining membership files
  • Producing reports in the database for internal and external stakeholders, as required


Member Recruitment & Engagement


  • Supporting the promotion of SAC’s partner programs for members and associates
  • Working with the SAC team to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to encourage the recruitment and retention of members and associates.
  • Assisting with outreach campaigns, including email and telephone calls during the annual renewal period
  • Contributing membership-related content to SAC’s online publications and campaigns
  • Playing a key administrative role in SAC’s annual renewal campaign


Education & Experience


  • Experience working in a professional association environment in member services would be a strong asset for this position
  • Completion of post-secondary education
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Approximately 3-5 years of related administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bilingualism (English/French)
  • Experience working with online membership databases/software

  • Interpersonal Skills – Congenial personality with the ability to collaborate well with colleagues and volunteers; and, deliver excellent customer service to SAC’s members and associates.
  • Organizational Skills– Extremely well-organized and detail oriented. Ability to set priorities, work under pressure and meet firm deadlines
  • Computer Skills – Ability to work with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
  • Problem-Solving – Ability to develop and communicate solutions/responses to diverse problems/requests.
  • Sound Judgement – Ability to respect strict confidentiality and work with discretion.Able to work with challenging clients.
  • Initiative– Display a high level of initiative with the ability to recognize and anticipate what needs to be done.
