Mechanical Design Engineer Jobs

The Opportunity:

Our client is a leading designer and manufacturer of steel hardware for the energy sector, and they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing technical projects to completion in a timely and cost-effective manner, detail design and development of products and processes within defined objectives, and maintenance of existing product designs including reviews for improvements or cost reductions.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Review and approve work by others in the technical team under the direction of the Product Engineering Manager.
• Manage technical projects from concept to production in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Production of accurate, clear detail and assembly drawings using AutoCAD & SolidWorks in compliance with drafting standards.
• Perform calculations and layouts required to achieve final design drawings.
• Maintain existing product designs including reviews for improvements or cost reductions.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful:

• Experience with various manufacturing processes, their advantages and limitations including hot work, stamping, machining, heat treatment and finishing.
• Experience with mechanical testing equipment, methods and knowledge of ISO9001 Quality System.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of products, materials properties and selection, stress analysis.
• Experience in building cost estimates for manufactured products.
• Experience with, and ability to read technical specifications, industry standards and manufacturing documentation.
