Reporting to the Director, Quality. The QA/QC Coordinator – Mechanical, plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products. In addition, the successful candidate will; plan, coordinate, and direct the quality control program to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established Bird standards.
This position is based in Ottawa, Ontario
Quality Control
What you will be working on
  • Identify and document non-conformities, defects, and areas for improvement, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor the implementation of quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to address quality-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures, methodologies, and standards for mechanical engineering projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications, engineering codes, and industry standards.
Quality Assurance
  • Conduct internal audits and reviews to assess adherence to quality standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Define quality assurance objectives, metrics, and performance indicators to assess project progress and effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive quality assurance program for mechanical engineering projects.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance quality awareness and skills among team members.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Documentation And Reporting
  • Prepare detailed quality control and quality assurance reports, highlighting findings, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and enhance quality-related documentation, including inspection checklists, test protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Generate and analyze statistical data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, inspection results, and non-conformities.
  • Reviews mechanical/structural scopes for identified prospects to ensure conformity to our current registered QMS and associated WPS. Identify gaps and address with Operations
What We Are Looking For
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO) and relevant quality assurance methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, and standards.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in quality control and quality assurance. mechanical engineering background is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence others, driving a culture of quality excellence.
  • Proficiency in using quality control tools, statistical analysis software, and MS Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
