Alumnus Developmental Centre is seeking talented and passionate individuals to join our team of Tutors, specializing in Mathematics. As a Tutor, you will be responsible for providing academic support and guidance to elementary and/or high school students from various schools in the Halton Region or Region of Peel area. This position is open to University Undergraduate students and individuals with teaching experience, with a focus on enriching the educational journey of our students.
Responsibilities:
Conduct tutoring sessions for elementary or high school students in the Oakville area.
Specialize in delivering tutoring assistance for Mathematics programs, ensuring that students grasp complex concepts effectively.
Provide personalized learning plans to address individual student needs and learning styles.
Create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters student confidence and academic growth.
Assist students in understanding course materials, homework, assignments, and exam preparation.
Track student progress and adapt tutoring techniques as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.
Communicate with students and parents to understand specific learning challenges and academic goals.
Collaborate with other tutors and the tutoring center team to enhance educational resources and methodologies.
Requirements:
Education: A good educational background with a strong focus on Math subjects. College students with relevant coursework in STEM programs are encouraged to apply.
Experience: Prior experience as a tutor or teaching assistant is considered an asset but not mandatory.
Passion for Teaching: A genuine interest in helping students succeed and a passion for educating others.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students and parents.
Subject Expertise: Proficiency in 3-4 Math disciplines, with a deep understanding of the subject matter.
Reliability: Punctuality and commitment to delivering high-quality tutoring sessions.
Location: This position requires in-person and online tutoring sessions, so candidates should be based in or near the area.
Salary and Hours:
The hourly rate for this position is $20 per hour.
Tutors will have a flexible schedule based on their availability and the student's needs.
