Overall Responsibilities

To provide leadership and direction through training and communication to production team members to meet schedules. To supervise the manufacturing and/or packaging of product in a safe and cost effective manner in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.


Specific Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Escalate deviations from Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturing/packaging instructions
  • Interact with peers, subordinates and other departments to achieve common goals
  • Monitor and maintain housekeeping and sanitation programs/standards
  • Trouble shoot any production problems to minimize impact
  • Participates in team member performance evaluations and discipline
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices in all GMP sensitive areas of Jamieson Laboratories Ltd. facilities
  • Escalate any problems during a production run with recommendations for their solution
  • Monitor equipment and premises, issuing work orders for maintenance required and continued follow-ups to ensure that repairs are completed on a timely basis
  • Complete and offer suggestions for improvement of all manufacturing and packaging documentation
  • Work in compliance with the company’s Health & Safety Policies/SOPs including but not limited to the Safety Responsibilities Procedure
  • Maintain necessary inventory of tablet tooling, spare parts and materials
  • Inspect all machinery for cleanliness, safety requirements and proper set up prior to production
  • Assign operators to specific duties on a day-to-day basis
  • Check and approve labour reports and overtime as submitted by team members
  • Provide initial, and ongoing training to operators in areas of safety, equipment and handling, Standard Operating Procedures, GMP requirements and company policies and practices
  • Ensure all ingredients are present as stated in the manufacturing formula and packaging form prior to production
  • Investigate opportunities for improvement to increase efficiencies
  • Assist in planning of daily and weekly production schedules and staffing requirements


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements

  • Computer literate
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience in the pharmaceutical industry specifically in the manufacturing of tablet Compression and coating and/or equivalent University or College degree in a science related field
  • Proven human relation and communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work in a TEAM environment
  • Managing/supervising unionized employee an asset
  • Validation experience would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of regulations (GMP’s and WHMIS)
  • Problem solving skills and abilities
