Manager, Strategic Initiatives



What is the opportunity?


The Law Group Strategic Initiatives team is undertaking multiple complex initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to improve data management, leverage technology and enhance efficiencies across the group. In this role you will be responsible for strategically planning and managing successful implementation of the above mentioned initiatives and projects. Adhering to our established Project Management framework, the role will coordinate, develop, lead and execute activities to ensure objectives are accomplished according to the schedule, scope and budget.


Please note this is a 12 month contract position. Must be available to work in office at least 3 to 4 times a week.


What will you do?


  • Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners.
  • Manage the implementation of multiple concurrent projects and initiatives of varying complexity in a time efficient, cost and risk mitigating manner.
  • Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks by analyzing, mitigating and escalating where appropriate.
  • Investigate, evaluate and select vendor-provided technical solutions related to Law Group initiatives.
  • Collaborate and contribute on cross-functional enterprise initiatives and manage the effective implementation of assigned deliverables.
  • Develop project plans, business cases, timelines, budgets and spending forecasts.
  • Contribute to ongoing administrative program activities as required including program budget/resource forecasting, cost avoidance analysis, etc.
  • Monitor and control project activities according to plan, schedule and budget.

Must-have


  • Adept organizational skills and ability to ensure accuracy, attention to detail is applied to all engagements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and prioritizing work/engagements for greatest impact/value
  • Excellent problem-solving and client service skills
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant designation


Nice to have:


  • Knowledge and experience with various collaborative workflow tools (Confluence, Jira)
  • Experience with Project Management tools (Planview, Leankit, MS Project, MS Visio)
  • Experience with Tableau or related business insights platform
  • Experience contributing to projects with understanding of technology platforms, core systems and IT infrastructure
  • CAPM or relevant Project Management certification
