Job Description
CTC’s Merchandising Procurement objective is to maximize the value CTC receives for its merchandising spend, on a sustainable basis. Since 2013, Procurement has supported the delivery of over $300 MM in benefits.

As a key leader on the Procurement team, the Manager Merchandise Procurement (MMP) will work with CTR Merchants to develop and execute assortment strategies, sourcing strategies, vendor strategies, RFI/RFQ optimization, productivity analytics, negotiation game plans, and vendor negotiations, all to optimize the value of our merchandising spend, on a sustainable basis. In addition, to deliver the mandate of maximizing value, the MMP will also work with key cross functional teams, including Pacific Rim Operations.

The MMP will manage and develop a high performing team of Senior Procurement Analysts.

What You'll Do

  • Support improving the productivity of our vendor relationships e.g., buying more from fewer vendors, aligning with the right vendors, longer term agreements, etc.
  • Work closely with Merch VPs, AVPs, and CBMs to develop, align on, and jointly execute a game plan to optimize value
  • Engage directly with vendors to optimize negotiated results.
  • Work closely with other Procurement Managers to ensure we are an integrated, effective, and efficient team
  • Manage 15+ category projects concurrently, ensuring optimal use of team resources, effective project plans, and pro-actively managing the project pipeline to a total Procurement benefit target. Identify best approaches, processes, and tools/analytics to apply to procurement projects.
  • Lead and/or support other ad hoc procurement projects that support the overall Procurement and Vendor Engagement mandate
  • Aligning to a specific Merch division(s), improve the value we receive for our merchandising spend. “Value” is defined in broad terms to include improved all-in-margin, quote cost, landed cost, vendor funds, as well as other value drivers like quality improvement, brand/product exclusivity, innovation, etc.
  • Increase the penetration and sustainable use of Procurement practices across Merchandising at CTR. Develop and deliver training material to key stakeholders.
  • Outside of line reviews, identify and action opportunities that can create improved cost value for the organization (e.g., commodity trends). Also, support the defense against out of cycle cost increases.
  • Work closely with the Pacific Rim Operation and CBMs to identify and optimize imports as part of our purchasing mix.
  • Manage and develop a team of high performing Senior Procurement Analysts
  • On targeted line reviews, support building the best and most productive assortments in retail, leveraging fact based analytics, competitive benchmarking, and consumer insights.
  • Oversee fact-based analytics to drive insights, recommendations, and actions. Scope of analytics would include all-in-margin, cost, assortment productivity, vendor portfolio management, sourcing strategy, RFI/RFQ, bid analysis, and support for vendor negotiations.

What You Bring

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Very strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Significant credibility with merchants
  • Procurement experience or related retail buying experience, 7-10 years
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships, while still driving aggressive change agendas
  • Ability to lead a direct and indirect team through coaching, analytical thinking, best practice identification & sharing
  • Experienced manager with a proven track record of strong procurement results
  • Global sourcing experience a definite asset
  • Work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Ability to continuously evolve sustainable processes and tools
  • Exceptional communication skills to audiences from Analyst to VP level
